Last summer Antoine Walker announced that he would begin working his way back to the NBA, and most thought it was a joke. Or at least an unreasonable ecpectation. Walker had been hampered with weight issues, bankruptcy issues, and declining basketball skills, the combination of which seemed like it would might sink the former wildcat. Apparently no one told him.
Walker, 34, has been playing with the Idaho Stampede during this seasons NBA D-League and looks to be making a legitimate case for an NBA contract. While his team hasn’t been doing great, Walker has been putting up the numbers – three games with 25 points on the road, and a 28 points, 8 boards, and 5 assists effort at home last night. Several NBA execs and assistants have been to watch, and most agree that Walker has what it takes to make it back into the league.
Surely some team out there is in need of a shimmy. The league as a better place when Antoine is a part of it.
