Anthony Davis had a 3.7 GPA

While speaking at an awards banquet for the St. Joseph Cadets, John Calipari casually mentioned that Anthony Davis finished the semester with a 3.7 GPA.
And they say future No. 1 picks don’t go to class.

Probably a different Anthony Davis…
That’s easy when your tutors do everything. Pathetic Cats
Write another article about IU please?
#3.. says the guy trolling a UK website.
Hey drew! Anthony Davis was at Owensboro catholic high school in owensboro Kentucky today for a shoot around/workout. While there he met one of the top 5 girls basketball players in the nation, becca greenwell, who is a junior there, check anthony’s twitter for a picture of them! She is highly considering uk…
What is his major?
Funny I have never been to other teams pages. Makes me wonder do they have Penis envy or a Napolean complex.
#1 hahahaha well done

It’s so nice that Cal and our Cats CONTINUALLY prove everyone else in the nation wrong. Face it, folks…we get the best, the brightest and the hardest working. Get used to it.
Congratulations to Anthony! Just remember if their wasn’t guys like me their wouldn’t be a top 50% of a class.
Everyone knows freshman year is a joke. Well, everyone but UK fans because 95% didn’t attend college!

is it me or does that photo hurt to look at? so bright, just stands out more than any other picture on the site. must be the brow.
******crickets******
EAT THAT BOBBY KNIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BLAM!!!!!!
…Anthony Davis had a 3.7 GPA. Swell. I’m tired of people telling half the story and expecting it to stick as complete proof. That makes us all, as UK fans, look simpleminded and naive. AD could’ve dropped down from the normal 12-15 hour courseload, taken the two easiest 3.0 hour University Studies classes at UK and still maintained both his NCAA eligibility and the perception that he is a “3.7 student.”
Smart Guys do finish First.
…you don’t think there’s a reason UK touts these players GPAs and refuses to release the transcripts that would reveal their courseloads? It’s called “controlling the spin machine.”
Let’s be honest. His classes weren’t the hardest. He’s only there for a year so be doesn’t have to
Follow the tract. Just be sure to stay eligible
I am in no way questioning Anthony’s intelligence, work ethic or commitment to academics…just continuing to wonder how we’re supposed to give credence to anything coming from a site that likes to brags how they don’t get the “faycts straight?”
25, because you have to look at this as relative to other players who have come through UK as well as those who attend other universities on basketball scholarship. They could also do the same things as you’ve described, and many probably have, yet have not achieved the same GPA.
25, and in other words, any other university and their players could/probably do what you’ve described, so it is silly to just assume its fishy because it’s UK/Anthony Davis.
Yes because you can get a 3.7 with two classes. Oh wait, no you can’t. An “A” and a “B” is 3.5. So its likely either 9 hours (3.66) or 12 (3.75).
Soooooooo……I guess math isn’t your forte.
28 has it right. He may have even been at 13 if one was a 4 credit hour class. One thing to remember is that Davis chose his high school based on their college placement rate, not their athletics. Everyone here knows that he only became great late – so he was likely looking at using decent to good skills as a way to pay for an education until his growth spurt made his decent to good skills in a 6’11” body great skills.
Smart is smart and if he took normal freshman classes and wasn’t out partying all the time there’s no reason he shouldn’t have had a very good GPA.
Also for next year – Poythress tweeted that he was doing something for his AP English class, so don’t be surprised next year when he has good grades too.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it booby knight
Not all university classes are created equal. But give him credit for excelling at what he was given to do on the court and the class room.
Just a note to all of you naysayers: Anthony Davis’ parents were split on whether or not he should go pro, his mother wanted him to stay in school. She would only give her OK if he promised to continue his education at UK and graduate, which he assured her he would do. He will have to take the same classes all the other students take, except during the summer and online. You also may not know this little tidbit of information, a great place to see former UK players who left early for the draft (and successful NBA careers) is on campus during the summer as they complete their degrees.
Hey POO POO! 102-90!!!!!!! We sent you home big boy!!!
