Anthony Davis: “It feels like the national championship all over”

Anthony Davis won a gold medal today. Oh, you already knew that? Well, he had a few comments following the big moment today. CoachCal.com has a few nice quotes from Davis about the experience:

“It’s a great feeling,” Davis said. “It feels like the national championship all over. Being on the court with these guys jumping up and down after we won with LeBron and Kobe, KD, and Melo, all the players on the team, a great feeling.”

“It was an opportunity for me,” Davis said. “I got better playing with these guys the last couple of months through USAB. I think I learned a lot from watching these guys from how they play, how they take the game, how they approach the game.”

Davis also talked a bit about the neat moment at the end of the game when he had the ball in his hands following the final rebound. Davis also had the ball in his hand at the end of Kentucky’s national championship.

Imagine for just a moment what it would be like to be a 19 year-old kid who just a few years ago was idolizing guys like Kobe, LeBron and Kevin Durant. And then today he got to jump up and down with them, celebrating an Olympic gold medal. Incredible.

What if Davis played football for UK? He would not have gold and this site would know him as Anthony Dervish.

AD said,”I think I learned a lot from watching these guys from how they play, how they take the game, how they approach the game.”

He admits he “watched” while they won him a medal.I am not putting him down for that, and he has had a amazing year, but some people on here are acting as if he was a factor in the games when he wasn’t. He couldn’t remember to put on his jersey sometimes, was shocked when his name was called in the first half. He is young, probably will be a great pro player in time. But my god, be honest here, he didn’t do anything to help this team win gold. And, by the way, not a Uof L fan here. I hate those bastards. Just trying to be honest, AD isn’t a superstar yet.

“Davis also had the ball in his hand at the end of Kentucky’s national championship.” Wrong. That would be Teague.

10…don’t think anyone is suggesting AD was a significant factor in the USA team’s gold medal. Nonetheless…he was on the team and it is impressive to think that in one season…he was the MOP at the Final Four, helped win a NCAA title, was drafted number one in the NBA draft, and was part of the USA team that won Gold.

    Not bad for 365 days!!!

I agree with you #14, the year he had will probably never be repeated by anyone. There are some people on here that have already got him in the all star game next year and leading his team to the NBA title. To much pressure for anyone. He got a gold medal, had a hell of a year and we all should be proud of what he did,but don’t put him on a superstar list yet. He has a long way to go yet.
