Another transfer considering Kentucky?

Another day, another transfer considering the Cats? According to Jeff Goodman, Wright State guard Julius Mays is transferring for his senior year and is considering the Cats, along with Purdue, Michigan State, Cincinnati and possibly Michigan. The 6’2″ Mays averaged 14.1 points last season (42% from behind the arc, 83% from the free throw stripe–Updated stats from ESPN.com) and would be eligible to play immediately. Mays played at North Carolina State for two seasons before transferring to Wright State. He would add some depth to the perimeter, an area the Cats are hoping to fill in before next season.

Wright State is in the Horizon League with Butler but their team is horrible. Didn’t watch too many Wright State games here in Dayton but, he did play well in the games that I watched. I don’t know if he could make any impact at UK though.
Free throw “stripe,” Tyler.
1st!
So many potential transfers this year….I would love to see our roster take form no later than June, but that seems unlikely.
48% from deep sounds beautiful to me. A deadly shooter would be a big boost to next year’s squad.
Wow, UK is considering a lot of transfers recently. Is Tubby coaching there again? I know this JC guy that can tear it up! Cats are tournament-bound this year baby!
This will be his second transfer? Interesting. 48% from 3 sounds good.
I don’t think the picture is big enough.
We need some players for next season to still be a contender, at least one big and a guard.
we need a sharp shooter, much like doron who can also convert from the free throw line
i feel that next year we will struggle at the free throw line
Cobb is Green Eyes.
4 – That would be 42% from ‘3’
The whole thing about transferring out for your senior year is interesting. The nice thing is that you get a seasoned player that steps in and helps for a year. For UK, that would be good because it allows us to continue our recruiting for 2013.
I wonder why the national writers aren’t condemning this new practice as “harmful for college basketball.” Where are you, Bobby Knight? Isn’t this kind of a reverse one-and-done?
In Cal we trust. I couldn’t find many College highlights from Mays on You tube, except this nomination for Geico Play of the Year nominee http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_h8swcEudnw.
This guy and Lyons from Xavier is exactly what we need this year. A couple guards to help fill the roster and give us depth but the fact that they are Seniors will not hurt our chances with getting everyone we want in the 2013 class.
14.) said it perfectly
Let’s not punt 2012-13 for 2013-14. Cal will get top talent this year and they will leave after one season and get $$$ in the NBA. The 2013 class will still flock to us even if we load up in 2012. We are the best. Get in line or get out. We don’t need some a10 or horizon castaways. WE ARE UK…I love how they’re “considering UK” as if anyone gets that privilege. We take who we want. Period.
#14, you beat me to it.
Matt Jones Sucks!
Did Andre Woodson get a tan?
Looks like Terrelle Pryor’s broke cousin, Jerrelle Pryor.
48% & 89% DO sound great!! Too bad he really shot 42% (from 2 & 3)…but that is an improvement over the 30% from the year before
You said it all #14.
Lyons or Mays is needed for 1 year to play 10-15 minutes a game. Cal does not want to hurt his 2013 class
He said I want to play with Harrow
I live in dayton and he is good……. for the Horzon league, wouldn’t do anything for a top 5 team of Kentucky.
