Scout.com reports today that Kentucky has begun speaking with and looking at 2008 Chicago Big Man Steve Goins. Goins is 6’10” 230 pounds and has risen up the charts during his senior season, thanks to improved play and the fact that guys who wait until the end of their senior year always get more attention. He is averaging only 12 points a game, but cleans up on the glass, taking down 15 boards a game. Right now his only offers are from Midwestern mid-majors such as Illinois-Chicago, but a number of top teams are looking at him, including Kentucky and Minnesota. Tracey Webster is following the kid and stays in communication with him. No offer has been given, but it looks as if Goins is one of a number of big men that Kentucky is deciding between to get a late offer.
