Following in the footsteps of Boogie and A’dia Mathies, another freshman wildcat picks up the SEC Freshman of the Week hardware. Taylor Rogers, left handed pitcher for the 29th ranked Wildcat Baseball team takes home the honors after allowing only six hits and no runs in his debut against an explosive West Virginia team. Rogers came to Kentucky with some reknown, as he was ranked the 22nd best freshman in the Nation but only 7th in the conference.
Sources say Rogers has called all six freshmen in the SEC that were ranked above him and simply played this into the headset.
Starting off at 3-0, the Bat Cats are off to another great start this season. They play a series in Lexington this weekend against Bowling Green, so if you’re looking for something to do, go check them out. Congratulations again to Rogers, and let’s hope he can keep the SEC player of the week streak alive.
