See, we’re better than them
ESPN’s Andy Katz has released his first poll since the early entry deadline’s passing, and it has changed tremendously. In early April, Katz had Texas at the top, but since then, D.J. Augustin remained in the draft, and the ‘Horns fell to 13th. Either Katz was actin’ a fool or he expected a UNC exodus to take place, because it matters not who Texas has as long as UNC has everyone back. I choose the latter for Katz, as he rarely acts a fool and the prospects of Ellington, Lawson, and Green returning looked bleak. With them back, Katz predicts a wire-to-wire season for the Heels.
Our smelly neighbors to the West made the most dramatic jump, going from 21st to 5th. I don’t know, I’m still skeptical. Without Padgett on the floor telling them not to shoot a three 8 seconds into the possession, they could really struggle. They certainly have talent, though. Future opponent (according to the Miami Herald, we will play December 6th on ESPN at Rupp) Miami was 8th, with UT representing the SEC 17th. That may even be a little high for the Vols, but they are returning Tyler Smith and a band of highly talented recruits.
Katz had the Cats as one of 16 teams “under consideration,” and they were the last team listed.
