Andrew Wiggins To Visit Florida State

According to ZagsBlog.com, the Nation’s top high school basketball player is planning a visit with Florida State in early December.  This was learned when SNY.tv talked to Wiggins’ prep coach, Rob Fulford.  It should be noted that both of Andrew’s parents attended Florida State and his close friend and teammate, Xavier Rathan-Mayes, committed to the Seminoles as well.  Fulford said on the situation, “He could be the best player in the history of their program. I’m sure they are interested.”

The general consensus among recruiting circles is that his recruitment is down to Florida State and Kentucky.  When Leonard Hamilton heard the news he lost yet another game the Seminoles were favored in.

Has Wiggins been to UK yet? I’m sure he has, but not sure when he visited.

Where ever this kid decides to ge he will be a star…He just needs to decide if he wants to be in the National spotlight and win a National Championship befor he goes to the NBA…This is only possible at KENTUCKY.

I read somewhere that matt jones got fired from cn2 for getting in a fight with either besiner or perrin. Anyone have info on this. All I saw was some vague stuff.

Nothing worse than wasted talent, and going to FSU to play basketball would be a total waste of his talent.

TOTALLY true, dood…a torrid love triangle, involving vacuum cleaners, fruits, vegetables, and a small herd of herbivores…and then *POOF* it all went south.

I’ve got video…I’ve got a script treatment…it’s either going to be on A&E or Starz, depending on what we put in.

Really who cares? I’m sure it involved a cost-benefit analysis of ratings, personalities, and contractual demands. IIRC, you can’t stand Jones, so what do you care? My advice, move on…I don’t inhabit websites of personages I can’t stand, why should you?

3 haven’t heard anything but he definitely seems to have fallen out with Beisner. every since Matt left cn2 there has been absolutely zero mention of Beis on the site.

Well, his options are to go and be really good at FSU and enjoy Florida, then get drafted as a top 5-10 player depending on exposure, OR he can come here, get a feel real quick for what the NBA will be like, play with the best on national TV all the time, win a title, and be drafted 1 or 2 overall, most likely 1.

Ultimately it’s a choice between being comfortable and being the only big dog at FSU, maybe carrying them to a 2nd round exit in the NCAA, or he can be challenged to work hard and be the best he can and have a chance to win it all at UK.

Wiggins visted UK for the UNC game last year, one of the most electric games in the history of Rupp. Should contrast nicely against a half empty FSU arena.

Wiggins has been to UK several times including Big Blue Madness! Taking a free trip to Florida, who can blame him? He will take his official visits including UNC and Kansas! I believe he understands UK is the best place!

11- Wiggins will be the number one pick regardless of whether he goes to UK or KCTCS… Draft scouts have been quoted as saying he’d be #1 in THIS draft… With that said, hope he comes to LEX

    16) How many top 10 guys have disappeared after going to crap schools, coming out a year or 2 later and eventually playing regularly in the NBA?

I don’t quite know what the record is for the top ranked recruit going #1 in the draft (depending on the recruiting service), but even the best player can get worse at a bad school, and if it’s seen in his numbers/on tv, it CAN hurt draft stock.

Harrison Barnes was picked pre-season All American twice, right? People talked about him as a top 5 pick. He wasn’t.

Renardo Sidney was once the top high school player, and then weight and attitude issues, and a coach who enabled him half the time, caused him to be stuck in school and fall down the draft board.

Not saying there’s no way Wiggins goes 1 wherever he goes, just that some coaches get #1 picks to play like #1 picks all year, and other coaches prefer to develop players over 3 years, and when those players leave early, it’s rough.

#15…the Harrison twins took an official visit to Maryland to appease their parents…hopefully that’s the same reason Wiggins is visiting FSU. I would LOVE to see Wiggins in a Kentucky jersey!!

A good example would be CJ Leslie. He and Terrence Jones were in the same class. T Jones went onto a Final Four, a National Championship, and a first round draft a year earlier than CJ Leslie. I think they were fairly close in national rank. Leslie had a scholarship offer here and knew the KY program through John Wall. He still chose NC St. I think Cal prepares these kids better than other staffs do.

Wiggins would be a wasted talent if he goes to Flordia State? No wonder other fans hate on us. This kid will great no matter where he goes. Grow up people we love UK, but it’s not the only school. Why would some bash a teenager for going some where else. The same things where said about the twins before their choice now the same people brag on how they knew they where coming the whole time.
    17) is it possible that they players you speak of where over rated coming out of high school?
UK has had 2 #1 picks in over 100 years, so I don’t think the kids have to come here to be the #1 pick. Cal has said repeatedly that UK isn’t for every one and not for most. So why can’t every one else get that.
