Andrew Wiggins responds to the “rumors”

Almost as fast as the rumor started, Andrew Wiggins squashed it. Wiggins apparently caught wind of the situation and issued a response. The rumor was that a source believed Andrew Wiggins had decided to commit to Florida State. As many suspected, at this point, a decision has likely still not been made by Andrew Wiggins.

Andrew, In your heart & mind, you know the BEST place to make your DREAMS become REAL is playing for CAL, at the University of Kentucky.

Come celebrate along with us in another NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!

Practice everyday with fellow NBA players and sharpen your game
    even more!

Andrew, when you are the BEST, you want to play for the BEST,
    not against them.

Whenever I get a package of plain M&Ms, I make it my duty to continue the strength and robustness of the candy as a species. To this end, I hold M&M duels. Taking two candies between my thumb and forefinger, I apply pressure, squeezing them together until one of them cracks and splinters. That is the “loser,” and I eat the inferior one immediately. The winner gets to go another round. I have found that, in general, the brown and red M&Ms are tougher, and the newer blue ones are genetically inferior. I have hypothesized that the blue M&Ms as a race cannot survive long in the intense theatre of competition that is the modern candy and snack-food world.

Occasionally I will get a mutation, a candy that is misshapen, or pointier, or flatter than the rest. Almost invariably this proves to be a weakness, but on very rare occasions it gives the candy extra strength In this way, the species continues to adapt to its environment.

When I reach the end of the pack, I am left with one M&M, the strongest of the herd. Since it would make no sense to eat this one as well, I pack it neatly in an envelope and send it to:

M&M Mars, A Division of Mars, Inc. Hackettstown, NJ 17840-1503 U.S.A.

along with a 3×5 card reading, “Please use this M&M for breeding purposes.”

This week they wrote back to thank me, and sent me a coupon for a free 1/2 pound bag of plain M&Ms. I consider this “grant money.” I have set aside the weekend for a grand tournament. From a field of hundreds, we will discover the True Champion. There can be only one.

Mr. Wiggins, Troy McKinley would be honored to show you some jumpshots when you arrive on campus and begin working out with the rest of the guys. There has already been a marked improvement in Poythress’s shot working with the sharpshooter from Independence (also home to a Mr. Miles Simpson, UK football star).

I wonder what “Lenny” has to say?

Wiggins is a great kid. I wish we’d just let him be. Cal knows what he’s doing, and Wiggins will do what is best for him and his family. It’s Cal’s job to recruit, and UK sells itself. They don’t need us to help sell the program.

    But still…

Having a great kid and talent like Wiggins would be awesome. No other fan base would love him as much. We’re still going to root for him even if he goes to a different school.

Maybe not as much come tourney time, but that’s to be expected…

If Andrew Wiggins DOES read this blog…AW, do what’s best for you. We love you, and we want you to be a Cat more than anything. You on this team guarantees #9 and possibly am undefeated season. Be our hero!

    Go Cats! 🙂

#5… Enjoy his recruitment? Sounds like quite the contrary. I’d love to see him come to UK. I’m confused though, a kid that doesn’t like attention waits until the last month to commit. Attention is all he is gonna get until he announces. A recruitment process like this is why alot of people in this country think things aren’t as they seem when it comes to kids choosing a school. It starts to look a little bit shady after awhile. Obviously he and his family know what his intentions are for next year according to his Tweet so why drag it out any longer if you don’t want attention and the rumors that are gonna come along with it ? He is already projected as the # 1 pick n the NBA draft next year so is marketing is what this is about that works already been done. Im just glad that the rest of our next years recruits made it clear where they wanted to play and avoided all the attention. Lol.

38 – Oh, and BS on some of your stats:

Pitino has had SEVEN 10-loss seasons at UL, SIX of which were in your 10 year span you chose. (’03-04, ’05-06, ’06-07, ’09-10, ’10-11, ’11-12)

    UK Elite Eights: 5 (2003, 2005, 2010, 2011, 2012)

    (and obviously) UK Sweet Sixteens: 5 (2003, 2005, 2010, 2011, 2012)

NOW, lets go back, oh, just 30 years:

    UK ul

    National Championships
    3 2

    National Runner Up
    1 0

    Final Fours
    7 5

    Elite Eights
    15 8

Now some general stats, that UL features on their Wikipedia site:

UK NCAA Tournament Appearances: 52 (NCAA rank #1)
UL NCAA Tournament Appearances: 39 (NCAA rank #5)

UK NCAA Tournament Wins: 111 (NCAA rank #1)
UL NCAA Tournament Wins: 70 (NCAA rank #6)

UK NCAA Final Four Appearances: 15 (NCAA rank #3)
UL NCAA Final Four Appearances: 10 (NCAA rank #6)

UK All Time Wins: 2111 (NCAA rank #1)
UL All Time Wins: 1697 (NCAA rank #12)

UK All Time Winning Percentage: .762 (NCAA rank #1)
UL All Time Winning Percentage: .661 (NCAA rank #8)

Should I keep go back farther?

Sounds like Wiggins own family doesn’t know anything about his recruitment. His own brother is speculating on social media. I’m so sick of this drawn out “look at me” recruitment process now. Shabazz did the same thing and look where that led to. I’m already over this guy. If he comes fine, if not fine. My loyalty is with the guys that have committed now. We don’t need him at this point, he needs us. Go to FS and do nothing. Piss off at this point, I’m sick of it.

Maybe Wiggins has it, maybe he doesn’t. Anthony Davis did. MKG and Bledsoe did. They all seemed to do pretty good here. Look at some kids that went to the other three schools. Josh Selby, Zavier Henry, Harrison Barnes, Micheal Snaer…all could have gone much higher in the draft at UK. Wiggins is a bright lad. He knows.

We probably don’t have to have Andrew, but its fun to imagine if we did……
One point I’d like to make. Andrew’s brother Nick said Andrew needs a better fit than UK to make his own legacy. What better legacy is there than to have been the best college player, on the best team ever, that won a national championship, and went undefeated? That’s a team and a legacy that would never be topped! That is totally resetting the bar. Every future player and future team from that point on would be measured against Wiggins and his Championship team. My point is, he can’t make that kind of legacy anywhere else but UK.
