Congratulations to Andrew Wiggins, who was named the 2012-13 Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year this morning.

Wiggins found out when former NBA All-Star Alonzo Mourning showed up at Huntington Prep to personally deliver the news. Mourning, a two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and NBA champion, was also named Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year in 1988.

There is a press conference scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wiggins’ coach, Rob Fulford, has confirmed that it has nothing to do with his college announcement.

    4. he doesn’t like attention right? Makes more sense to wait…lol….for real what is the kid waiting on…everyone has declared other than Gordon out in the west coast.

Love this kid, but waiting this long makes me doubt his claim to want to avoid the spotlight. The longer he waits, the more attention he gets. Come on, Andrew, wear the blue!

always a smartass around when someone posts something you don’t want to read. he never said he was going to florida state just what the parents were pushing. pretty obvious they have been doing this all along. thought it was a good scoop to hear it from someone kinda connected to the wiggins. considering dan coached nick i think it was a solid lead. my personal opinion is andrew wiggins goes to ky.

  17. What was his name? JT?

What we really need is a UK fan whose wife is close with Andrew’s mother. They always give the scoop!

Is it an omen that there is a book titled United States History in the bottom right of the first pic??? Could the universe be telling us that Wiggins will become a part of history??…that history reference of course refers to Wiggins becoming the final piece of a historical recruiting class at UK that will not be surpassed for years to come, if ever.

It has to mean that…there is no other acceptable possibility.

Wiggins’ parents were pushing him to FSU before the UK and UNC visits, since then they have switched and believe those 2 schools are the best fits for their son. Wiggins has always loved UK he just needed his parents’ blessing. After the UK visit they fell in love with the school and Cal and gave him their blessing. Everybody needs to just calm down because he will commit within the next 2 weeks, remember great things come to those who wait.

I think he should commit today because BBN wants him too. Then when he plays we should tell him everything he’s doing wrong. Then we need to explain to Coach Cal how to coach him. Then we should….no wonder I’m ADD. Look, the top recruit for 2019 just said he like UK!!!

Can we recruit the two kids to Alonzo Mourning’s right to play Defenseive end for UK? Or Power Forward and Center in Cal’s “Beefy” lineup?

I would like to point out that Huntington Prep is not an actual school. He goes to St. Joseph High School and that people that go to school with him say that it’s not likely that he will pick Kentucky.
