Andre Woodson leaves UK for job at Morehead State

Andre Woodson has accepted a job as wide receivers coach at Morehead State, according to a tweet from Eagles head coach Rob Tenyer.  Woodson recently interviewed for the quarterbacks coaching job but will coach the pass catchers instead.  He spent last season on the Kentucky staff working with quarterbacks as a graduate assistant.

We hate to see Andre go but we’re happy for him as he officially begins his coaching career.  Maybe we’ll see him on the Commonwealth sidelines again one day in the near future.

Cats.

Good for Andre. He was QB in some of my favorite KY games. It’d be nice if Morehead could get back into FCS level/OVC football.

Woodson threw the most catchable ball of any UK QB I’ve seen! Damn Mike Martz! If not for him at the senior bowl Woodson might have been a good NFL QB.

Definitely one of my top 3 UK players of all time. Excellent player on and off the field. Loved having him on our sidelines. Hopefully he will make it back someday.

#8, a full time job beats a Grad Asst. salary any day of the week, but he will be missed!

Congrats to Andre & the Eagles. Morehead does play at the FCS level in the PFL along with Dayton, Butler, Davidson, & San Diego to name a few members… A great landing spot for a great guy to begin his career.

False #9. Be a Grad Asst. at UK and work your way up like most do. I didn’t even know Morhead had a football team to be honest. Bad move but best of luck to Dre.

Gotta do what’s best for his family… but we all know he won’t be there long

Congrats to Andre! He will always be remembered as a UK great and that LSU game is a moment I’ll never forget. Good luck to him as he begins his coaching career!

too bad, maybe he’ll return one day with a plethora of coaching experience and he’ll be the guy everybody hoped Joker would be. Seriously hope he’s successful in his coaching career.

Thanks to 9 and 11, whoever’s correct. It’s good to get a paycheck no matter what the situation. BUT I “WAS” wondering why would he leave the SEC to go to the OVC.

I think it’s a very strange move. There’s a good chance if he stuck around that Neal Brown would have hooked him up after a year or so. Moving up a lot from a receivers coach at Morehead is a tough task.

#11 Rex Ryan and John Harbaugh were both assistants at Morehead State.

Interesting #17. That’s pretty cool and first I’ve heard that. I was kind of being sarcastic as I knew they had a team just don’t ever hear about them. Anyways best of luck to Andre..I was excited to hear Stoops was having him return.

There are three places to eat in Morehead, so that will take some getting used to on his part.

#15 keep wondering. He didn’t go the the OVC. Morehead is in the Pioneer League in FB. #11 He did work his way up.. he got a full time job. He’ll be fine. He’ll do his job and get picked up by a higher D-1 program in a year or two. How is that less ambitious than having a non-paying job at UK when UK is going to struggle for at least a couple more years even if Stoops eventually turns it around?
