I appreciate the "shirt tucked into jeans" swag by Mark Stoops.

OLine Coach John Schlarman, Vince Marrow, and Mark Stoops with “shirt tucked into jeans” swag received LaRubbio’s commitment this morning.

The Ohio pipeline continues to flow blue as Mark Stoops received his 6th commitment from the Buckeye State this morning. The #16 OG in the country is a monster on the right side of the center. LaRubbio saw the power of #BBN firsthand at the Spring game, making it easy for Vince Marrow to make another great recruiting move in Ohio. This addition moves Kentucky’s 2014 class to #16 in the country, 7th in the SEC just behind Ole Miss.

After watching some of his film I’m sure his favorite food is pancakes (my favorite pancake on his highlight reel comes at the :56 mark). Attacking defenders with sheer size is impressive to watch, but his quick first step sets him apart from other great offensive linemen. High School players often ‘let up’ on the offensive line when a play is ran to the other side, but LaRubbio has a good head on his shoulders and doesn’t stop until the whistle is blown, regardless of whether the play is going his way.  His Lakota East High School team is an option run-based team, giving him more responsibilities at OG than a normal spread/pro-style offense. The QB bases much of his decision making in the option off of the OG’s play; if he doesn’t create a hole immediately the play could be a bust. LaRubbio’s experience thus far has turned him into an attacking lineman that will only do good things for UK in the future.

I don’t understand how their can be a difference of 26 spots between 24/7 and Rivals rankings on him. How does that happen.

Great addition! The air raid only works if the three interior OLs give the QB time for the play to unfold. Picking the Cats over Nebraska and Wisconsin shows the Wizard Marrow is still doing work….

Stoops is doing great, but are we not recruiting the south at all now? Wouldn’t mind seeing a few recruits from GA,TN,FL etc.

    classof68,

I’d say we are still recruiting the South, brother. But, I think the staff is just taking advantage of the area that seems to be really hot for us currently. To get the #16 OG in the nation is huge for a program like ours, whether he’s from Ohio, Georgia, Montana, etc. I believe you’ll begin to see more commits from the South if we can have some success on the field.

I’m not going to question anything this staff is doing in recruiting right now. For this staff to get some of the commits they’ve reeled in over the past 6 months, especially coming off a 2-10 campaign, is nothing short of miraculous!

The fact that we are beating out a lot of traditional football schools for some of these kids speaks volumes. Not to mention that we are also beating out Louisville for several of these kids: LaRubbio, Darryl Long, Drew Barker and Mikel Horton (the Cards had offered all of these kids).

Let’s just sit back and enjoy the ride, my friend!
