All The Latest Bracketology You Can Handle

Joe Lunardi updated his NCAA Tournament projections in the wee hours of the morning and not too much has changed. He still has Kentucky in the “next two out group”. The only major change is Alabama being eliminated with their loss to Florida.

Over at CBS sports Jerry Palm has the Cats in the first four out group alongside Alabama and Maryland. Some decent news though comes from the Bracket Matrix, a website dedicated to compiling brackets from around the web for a consensus view of the projections. There 33 of the 86 brackets have Kentucky in the big dance. Keep hope alive.

Why in the world does people keep guessing and getting all torn up about getting into the tournament because NO ONE knows who is getting in and who is not. You people just sit around and worry for nothing because it is all guessing right now.

What about te UL game number 1 seed overall UK lost by 1. Everyone knows a team like UK can beat teams in the tourney. I am not saying UK can win it all. I am just saying I can’t put a team in because they are 27-2 vs team over 100+ rpi.

I do not think middle Tennessee gets in. I also not sure lasalle will. I see that leaving two spots. I am thinking one of those last two spots goes to fourth SEC school. Will it be uk or tenn? If you see lasalle, midd tenn, or tenn mentioned uofk is out

And why does it matter at this point except for pride and maybe not having to watch the NIT? Sadly, this team lays down like dogs when faced with a do or die situation. They will probably lose anyway to some mid major hungry to win a play in game against a school like UK. North Carolina has redeemed its season with young players. We flushed ours down the toilet against Vandy. It really just doesn’t matter.

Curious if Florida crushing Ole Miss would knock them down, or if they’re solidly in now. I have to think both they and Tennessee are ahead of us. Tennessee has been on a hot streak, and Ole Miss won a couple in the SEC tourney.

I’m still assuming we’re NIT bound.

    4) Problem is how inconsistent we’ve been since losing Noel. Knowing we had to beat Vandy to get in and putting up a showing like we did, the committee is aware of that. The only way we’re in is if they just decided to put us in after the Florida win unless a bunch of bubble teams won tourneys.

I am just ready for the season to be over. Everything that could go wrong went wrong. I love my cats. I am trying not to be biased but its hard to see why the tournament waste picks on mid majors just because they won a conference tourney. A team that lost 20+ games is in the tourney.

I don’t know what you’re on man, but i want some of it. no way we survive the cut, and even if we did, we’d be playing a top seed that would really expose all our weaknesses, and beat us worse than Tennessee did. There are high school teams that have more drive than our boys, and could likely beat us. I don’t blame Cal, you can’t teach heart, you can’t teach drive, you can’t teach determination. Let’s just face it. This year we are not very good, and we don’t belong there, and we will not win the NIT either. I’d be surprised if we last more than 2 rounds there. We are not even remotely close to the past three years, and i already wish it were next season because i think we will be back in a big way, but this year-we are done. I’m not complaining, but even with with a top program, there are gonna be down years, and hopefully this is it.

We should only bring back Poythress next year if he agrees to be a cheerleader since standing and watching is what he likes to do. I remember several of us being talked down for wanting Harrell who is a much better player than anybody on our team.

We are out. Lets set tradition aside, and talk about the present. The tournament is only concerned with this season, and particularly this season with a Noel-less team. This team shouldn’t make it and if the roles were reversed and UofL or IU were in this spot we would be saying they shouldn’t make it. Sometimes you have to take off your fan hat and put on the truth hat…This year the truth hurts. We are bad and Vandy showed the world that on Friday.

This is all speculation until the Selection Show. Who cares what Joe Lunardi thinks? He’s not on the selection comittee and his Bracketology is not used in selecting the teams. If we don’t get in, it’s our program’s fault. No one else’s. However, I like the idea of having an automatic bid going to the previous year’s champion. Go Big Blue!

#11. I am no bandwagon fan. I am 66 yrs old and started listening to UK and Caywood at age 5. I attended UK and never missed a game as a student. I have been in the crowd at Bluegrass Airport for many team arrivals in both victory and defeat. I have never, ever missed listening to or watching a UK game in my life. I will be watching this group no matter who or where they play. However, I do know a turd when I see one even if it is a big blue turd. My point is reality based. It doesn’t matter in the bigger picture if we get in or not. We are not a good team.

#20 Florida was awful that night in Rupp. It was not our suffocating defense that kept them from hitting all those open 3’s or missing layups. We did play with more energy that night and our guard play was improved but we got far from Florida’s best.

How can we have such lame fans? Who would you rather pull for? Cal coached up Liggins and Harelson, some kids get it and some do not. I would take a Championship followed by a NIT team before two sweet 16 teams in a row every time. Cal thought he was getting players back that got an opportunity to be drafted because we won it all, and he missed on a couple that would have helped us this year. We could go 40 and 0 next year and make history. Fair weather fans go pull for Duke or whoever you like, or thank God your a UK fan and take a bad year after a championship and shut the F up!

Coach Cal is awesome! UK is fortunate to have him and Cal is fortunate to have UK. Who else but him could run this great program? He’s fantastic is all phases from recruiting to marketing to coaching! If anyone disagrees with this, then you need to open your eyes! Perhaps this year’s results show that there’s risk in a true One-And-Done team. It is possible that you can miss on a few players. It appears, however, that a Some-And-Done team is much more probable to develop into a winning team. Which is exactly what this program will be next year. Go Big Blue!

    30. You answered your own question. 60% from three, and you wonder why the coach switched out of the zone? Maybe, just maybe, because teams that are making a lot of three pointers have proven they can shoot over a zone?

Even if the zone defense was extended to counteract the 3-point shooting, the weak Kentucky defense would have given up open shots right under the basket. Most teams and players don’t miss thoe. Well, unless your name is Ryan Harrow!

The SEC is so weak this year that if Florida were in just about any other conference in the country the SEC would only get one team (the SEC conference winner) in the tournament.

As I sat there watching the game in person on Friday night I realized two things. First, this was the worst performance I had seen live by UK, which covers probably 45 games over the years and second, that I hoped Cal would learn from this season. I do not want to hear him use the phrase, “players first program” ever again. If you were there in Nashville you saw once again that Kentucky fans are the greatest fans in the world. They took over the entire arena for a below average team. They were into the game and created an atmosphere which was even more intense than Rupp. The fans spent thousands of dollars to be there and traveled from all over the country to be there. The team simply did not show up. My point is even in an off year the fans still chose to buy their tix and be there to love and support the program. I was reminded of Cal bad mouthing the Conference tournament ever since he got here and decided he simply does not get it. The SEC tourny is an extension of the season and allows the fans who are not lucky enough to get to Rupp Arena on a regular basis to see their beloved CATS. Cal needs to respect that and the fans who turn every tournament into a damn home game for his program.

  53. kingrex
    2:47 pm March 17, 2013 Permalink

I also have thought ever since Cal that perhaps these McDonald’s All-Stars have looked up into the seats at teh SEC tourny and thought wow, this is all for me and this crop of guys because we are elite 5 stars. Everyone on this board knows this is not the case, but I wonder how the kids interpret this almost surreal atmosphere of 80 percent of the arena being UK fans at a conference tourny. If anyone has not seen it you should make any attempt to experience it one day. I want these players to understand the same level of love and support was there for every single Sutton, Pitino, Tubby and even BCG team. I am sure they wanted to win, but the players did not honor that support on Friday. It was the worst performance I have seen in person. This is not a players first program. It is OUR program and the greatest night in uK history will NEVER be the NBA Draft. That is insulting beyond belief and has nothing to do with us, but it is possibly greatest night for Cal personally, but he should say that instead of trying to make us believe we as a fanbase should embrace it. The fanbase is the reason this job is the best job in sports. When you get inside the arena for the SEC tourny and tipoff is in 5 minutes and you can look out from the concourse outside onto the streets and you still see thousands of people wearing UK blue filling the bars and restaurants who obviously do not even have tix to the game, but are there presumably with family and friends who do, makes you realize how amazing the support is for this program.
