Alex Poythress named SEC Freshman of the Week

Donte Rumph can’t hog all the UK love from the Southeastern Conference weekly awards, he has to share some of it with Alex Poythress. Poythress was named SEC Freshman of the Week after giving 60% effort, according to Calipari, against Lafayette. In Kentucky’s two games last week, the freshman from Clarksville averaged 21 points and 6.5 rebounds. He had 20 points and a team-high eight rebounds in a loss to No. 9 Duke, and then a 9-for-10 night from the field for a career-high 22 points against Lafayette, making him the first freshman since Brandon Knight in February 2011 to have consecutive 20-point efforts for Kentucky.

I agree with Kyle Macy that he is a lot like Mashburn in style of play. I’m calling him Poythburn from now on.
Yup agreed -he’s a youg mashburn for sure. I knew there was something going on with the Wendys connection.
What’s the deal with Tony Trocha? Does he really have an offer?
