Alex Poythress has the right attitude

While the rest of us had switched off the TV to avoid Louisville’s One Shining Moment, Alex Poythress was in the gym getting ready for next season. Poythress, who announced he would return for his sophomore season last week, posted the picture above last night on Instagram with the caption “Had to.”
Next season begins today.

Practice makes perfect 40-0. Get Willie in there to shoot free throws.
That a boy! Get in that gym!
If Alex becomes the beast he is capable of, we WILL be unstoppable next year!
I think he will be the next Terrence Jones. Much improved this year in terms of effort and helping to lead the way to #9. He will greatly improve his draft status, too.
If he don’t. His ass will be on the bench.
That a boy, Alex!
1 – Yeah, no kidding haha. WCS needs to be at the stripe for a few hours.
Did anybody else laugh when Rick Patino got scared when the confettie went off! HAHA
http://m.espn.go.com/ncb/story?storyId=9147684
now get willie and kyle in with you play some one on one everyday not somtimes but everyday…
Alex the cones are in the equipment closet. Get them out and work on the dribbling.
Pitino has been down in ghetto ass da ville too long. Thought some confetti was fireworks lol
7. u gota werk on dat spailing of Rick’s las’ nam
In Patino’s defense…it kinda took me by suprise too and I was on my couch. I thought some a$$hole had bombed the Georgia Dome…lol.
Keep up the good work Alex. I HATE LOUISVILLE.
#11 that is what happens when you u “toot” some stuff that makes your nose red all the time…
There is seriously a poll on cbs sports that asks which team was more impressive between 2012 Kentucky and 2013 Louisville⦠what a joke. http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball
Yeyo. Exactly 15. All that blow got the Godfather paranoid lol.
Love it Alex!
Also Michigan got hosed in game. No goal tend early, Burke call should have been no call, big white guy for UM got raped and called for travel. Just saying.
Word is that Poythress has enlisted the help of former Kentucky legend Troy McKinley to help with his outside jumper and his ball handling skils.
kudos to alex he is on the right track, right now.
Love this!!
ALEX I WANT THAT AUTOGRAPH DAMN IT. I LIVE IN CLARKSVILLE.
You go boy!!! Get the cones out and become a &*^%^ off the dribble. Go Cats!!
Warning…. The beast is coming!!!
@ 19 If Troy McKinley helps him he could develop into one of the greatest jump shooters ever! That man could shoot the rock!!!
Maybe Alex will set a precedent for how much you can improve your game when you STAY two years.
Alex was not a “hijacker”.
Wiltjer wants to be the best college player he can be, he needs one of those personal training guru’s all summer, that some players go to for strength, and underbasket skills.
I can hear the training montage music now…
With Alex, he has a great shot and is strong as hell. You can see the talent. It all comes down to effort and want.
How many UL players will be gone next year? Any set in stone for pro or graduate? (lazy researcher here)
I love my CATS… I think Poythress in right on track… would have been awesome if the whole team had been in there…
31 Saliva will be gone for sure
WE LOVE YOU ALEX!
Great job, Alex.
The road to #9 starts today!
Umm..
In terms of relevant players, the only guaranteed loss is Siva. You can probably safely bet that Dieng is gone. I don’t have a read on Smith yet. He probably should go.
#31/36 Smith is going. Already been confirmed by SI.
Awesome!! Great to see Alex putting in work. I think he will be a key player next year for sure. Now just get WCS off of twitter and in there with him. Just saw where russ smith is goin pro. Cant wait to beat them down in Rupp next year!!
Siva is a senior, Smith’s father announced this morning that he is going in the draft
” had to “? no, what he “had to” do is grow a set. they guy is the biggest snatch i ever saw for someone with his physical attributes
That a boy Alex, make the ones returning to Looey Vull Regret it!!!!!
So Smith is leaving school early? I thought ul’s approach was all 4 year players?
Their approach is all 4 years but since there is no chance of a repeat, Russ DICKless shall move on! Besides, rumor has it was that he was having nightmares of the twins and just couldn’t handle it anymore. Gorgi Dingaling will leave too!!
40 – move on. Clean slates for all now.
On Youtube, there’s a video of the best game ever played: the 1975 UCLA-UL semi-final game. A bunch of 6’5 players versus a 7’2/6’10/6’8/6’7/6’6 team. The game was wonderful. Holding was called. Walking was called. The players didn’t palm the ball when dribbling. There was no dunking. No 3 point line. No shot clock. No chest pounding, roaring, taunting, or self-promotion. Players took a lot of 8-10 foot jump shots. It was a graceful, exacting, exciting game. And I bet the players took several months off in the summer time to just be young for awhile rather than basketball metronomes. I have to think that basketball fatigue on the part of the players is a good % of the reason that the game has become so ugly.
I agree with #10. The cones out and dribble, dribble, dribble! It’s the main key to Alex’s game development to hit the next level.
It’s your year next year, go get’em big “Poy”!
Shame it took ALL year for him to figure it out…But better Late Than Never! Keep at it Big Boy!
What is up with all of the Troy McKinley talk? No one threw up more shots than me??
Great job Alex! PPat would be a very good role model for him.
