Alex Oriakhi to Missouri

Jeff Goodman, who seems to know everything about everyone in college basketball, is reporting that Alex Oriakhi will transfer to Missouri.  The former UConn big man was scheduled to visit Lexington next week.

Anthony Bennett, come on down.

Darn…please get Bennett and Jefferson. We are going to be amazingly young next year. Could have really used his senior leadership.

That simplifies things. Hopefully Bennett doesn’t choose to take his time now that it isn’t a first-come-first-serve scenario.

I think Bennett would be a better fit. Not sure how well Oriakhi would do at the 4 and rumors of 30+ minutes/game demands worry me. Would be nice to have a senior but I’m not sold on his leadership qualities. Also, there’s always the chance that Bennett would stay two years. I think we need to go a little harder after Jefferson.

Bennett and Jefferson need to come on down. Worst case, we still have these guys:

UK is no where near the drivers seat for Bennett or Jefferson, so some serious ground will need to be made up for us to have a shot at either of them….not sure it can be done. It will be key to get Bennett in for an official visit before he pulls the trigger for UF. Maybe the guys recruiting him at the Jordan Brand game can help.

The first part of my statement Is correct as oriakhi wanted to be the one and only center on his team, where he can show his leadership and carry his team on his back deep into the tourney. Good on him. I fully understand his decision and to be honest, if he went to Kentucky hed be coming off the bench sharing minutes with Noel. All of this talk that he would be a pf, just no. He’s dominant at the center position, and as you can see by his stats at the pf position, nowhere else. I support his decision and hope for the best, but we need Bennett now. I don’t find this difficult because I believe the only thing in his way of a commitment to us was oriakhi taking his minutes. Now that it’s not an issue, I see no reason as to why he won’t be a cat by Monday. I was right about shabazz, I was right about nerlens, I was right about oriakhi, and let’s hope I’m right about mr. Bennett.

Disappointing. Haith, in my opinion, is way over-rated as a coach. He was a disaster at Miami. He had first year coach luck at Missouri but then his team flamed out at critical tourney time. Oriakhi will get plenty of playing time but no coaching to help improve. But, Bennett is the one I have wanted and hope there was some message that this is what will happen. Jefferson as an addition would not be bad either but I don’t see both coming.

Richard, can i call you Dick? Dick, do you know how pathetic you make your entire fan base look by continually posting on a rival forum? We understand you just want to be part of a bigger, better program (or even exist for that matter), but posting continually here, shows how desperate you have become. I know it’s got to be depressing to see UK continue to have the #1 recruiting classes, win national championships, and continue to put the Tards in their place, but if you don’t let go of it, it’s gonna eat you alive. Perhaps your coach could learn some things from Cal if he would just watch and listen, instead of spending his time banging 15 second bimbos on italian restaurant tables. Go on now, back over to inside the Ville site, and join in with the rest of your inbred brothers where they talk as much about Big Brother as they do their own team. Every time Uk gets another recruit, the “inside the Ville” goes in to meltdown mode. You will have plenty of company and compassion there.

If no one else comes back, that’s 7 schollies used with 2 more going to the walkons if no one else is using them.

If we get Bennett, still only 8 scholarship players if no one comes back.

After watching the tape of Bennett, the kid is an absolute animal! Yes, the Cats will be short on experience, but they will be extremely athletic. True, not much tourney experience among the rotation, but keep in mind that Cal has been there multiple times now. I’m not expecting a FF next year, but we will be fine. 2013 shapes up to be another monster recruiting class, and combining that with some of the returning talent from this year’s class, and #9 might be on target in 2013.

You guys are getting your hopes up way too high on Bennett. Yeah, guy looks good on 3 minutes worth of youtube clips but in a game setting he isn’t as effective as you think. He is a tweener 3/4 that is all athlete and little skill. Cal would probably be able to get the most of him, but he is not a program changer by any means, not at this stage. I watched a lot of Findlay Prep games last season and often times when it mattered the most Brandon Ashley and others done the work on that team. Again, Bennett has the potential but you guys are acting like he is just going to come in and dominate, thats not the case. However, we do need bodies for that four spot and he could come in and use that body/athleticism to pull boards and score around the basket when he can get dunks. Can also hit the spot up three, but does nothing off the dribble and cannot oome off screens, spot up shooter only……You guys are also getting your hopes up too high hes coming to kentucky anyway, Florida is the leader and club house favorite.

I didn’t say he was bad. Go back and read some of the posts, some act as if he is Jared Sullinger or Thomas Robinson or something, he’s not. Don’t get me wrong, he will be a decent college player, but still has a long way to go before he is a great college player. He would be able to get a lot better at Kentucky and under Calipari but right now he is still fairly raw for a top 10 player. If you guys want to watch edited dunks and spot up threes on a couple 2 minute youtube mixtapes then go ahead and think you are recruiting experts. There’s reasons why Cal hasn’t recruited him as hard as other schools have but there is also reasons he has picked up his recruitment now they have missed on a couple. If Bazz came, Poythress would have played a lot of four, now Wiltjer is the only real four we have, thus the need to go hard after what is left.
