Alan Cutler Photobomb of the Day Wants Afternoon Notes

Note to UK basketball fans: Be careful when taking family photos in Rupp Arena.  Alan Cutler never misses a good photobomb.

— Kentucky has already set a season-high for College GameDay tickets but there is still a lot of work to do if Big Blue Nation is going to live up to the Rupp Arena expectations set the last time the show came to town.  Calipari challenged #BBN to get up to 15,000 tickets this afternoon on Twitter, 2,000 more than where the number is now. Go claim yours at so we can pack the house Saturday morning.

— On this morning’s SEC teleconference, Coach Cal suggested that Ryan Harrow might find a permanent seat on the pine when he said he will evaluate the point guard play over the next few days to figure out the best way to proceed. Archie Goodwin has been spending time at the point in practice and we’ve seen an increase in minutes for Jarrod Polson over the last few games. It sounds like he’s completely given up on Harrow, who he’s been critical of since Day 1. Harrow just lacks the toughness needed to play the point at Kentucky.

— Also from the SEC teleconference, Kevin Stallings said Tennessee would’ve beaten anyone in the country on Saturday. He called Kentucky a talented team full of future pros and he expects a much better showing from the Cats Wednesday night.

— Did you see who stopped by Coach Cal’s office yesterday?

Davis flew to Lexington from Houston, where he participated in the All-Star weekend festivities.

— Check out the poster the 1996 team will be signing before the Mississippi State game:

The team will be signing at the Kentucky Proud Store from 6:00-8:00 prior to the game on the 27th. Follow @bbnlegends on Twitter for updated info and details on future signings.

— We are happy to announce that beginning March 3rd, Maysville and Whitesburg will become our 19th and 20th KSR Radio affiliates. Welcome to the KSR radio family.

— Ian Eagle joined Matt and Ryan on Kentucky Sports Radio radio this morning to discuss Kentucky’s 30-point loss in Knoxville. Have a listen at

Stallings is an idiot. It’s effort. If you play hard, you’ll most likely beat the Cats.

It’s not just an effort issue–it’s strength and ability! Did you ever see a 2-guard who can’t shoot a lick?

Coach Cal is the best coach is basketball. However, I don’t understand why he would think putting Goodwin at point is a good idea. If the first of the year showed us one thing, Goodwin is not a point guard. Ryan Harrow is our point guard. He is the one that Cal has to fix, again. Cal had him playing like a point guard supposed to in the middle of the year. I think Harrow is one that has to have positive reinforcement all the time or he looses his confidence. I think the All-Access program aired and embarrassed Harrow and he was ready to leave the program he came back and Cal was stroking him every day in the media on how good he was playing and then bam he has a bad game at Alabama that we should have won and Cal blamed it on the guards and he hasn’t been the same since. I’m not blaming all of this on Cal, no one should be that weak mentally in the first place. But I do think that Cal needs to really try his best to get Harrow back to where he was.He was driving the ball and hittiing floaters, hitting threes and mid range shots making good passes to the open men and not turning the ball over.Goodwin cannot do any of those things.

    6) I agree 100% I think harrow is ” walking on eggshells ” so to speak. When he has confidence he is BY FAR this teams best option at the point. Goodwin hasn’t changed his ways from day one,but he never has to pay the price with a little benchtime. I hate to be this way because in time I think goodwin can be a good player, and I really think all of these guys are good kids, but if he puts goodwin at the point I may break my t.v tomorrow. GO CATS

#6 and #19 Good points but I wonder if there is not more going on with Harrow than embarrassment and lack of confidence. He does not look well physically or emotionally. From past reports out of NCS he had the very same issues there that he is having at UK. He would get anxious and fearful before games to the point he would throw up and become physically ill. He would be unable to play for several weeks at a time. As a mental health professional I have seen this many times. If he does have a mental health issue (panic disorder or social anxiety disorder or both) he will not be able to perform until this is addressed. Pats on the back from his coaches can’t hurt but it won’t solve the problem. If a teams leader on the court (point guard) is scared that will translate to the rest of the team. He can’t lead or think properly when he is panicked and fearful of scrutiny. Archie on the other hand is perhaps too fearless but he has more speed and athletic ability than Polston. Cal may think he can at least make Archie serviceable at the position for the remainder of the season.
