The between session break was used by the crew to record a podcast and Macon Vol Fan to meet his hero, the tan Bruce Pearl. The CNN Center was full of Wildcat fans, many of whom stopped by to send their well-wishes to their friends left holding down the fort in the Bluegrass State. During the second half of the game, I was fortunate enough to sit next to John Pelphrey and listen as he chatted with some of his coaches about the Vanderbilt team he is to play tomorrow. It is fascinating to listen to guys who do this for a living and who are as engrossed in the game as a guy like Coach Pelphrey. Fans often talk about the intricacies of the game and obviously some fans are schooled on the ins and outs of basketball. But if you ever get a chance to just listen to guys who REALLY know the game, you wil realize that in some ways they are talking on a completely different level. I was fortunate enough at a summer camp to listen to Coach K break down Patrick Patterson’s game to his assistants and I remember thinking, “these guys just notice things I never would.” Conversations like the one I heard today showcase that fact.
With Vandy moving on, the dork factor at the tournament will remain quite high. Foster and Ogilivy both had huge games and were the keys to the Dores dominating on the offensive end. The game tomorrow with Arkansas should be one of the best of the tournament as the Hogs likely have their NCAA lives on the line.
A random reporter listening to his ITunes next to me continues to talk to me about what “JP Prince would do if Dan Werner got smart with him.” I am seriously a little freaked out at this point….
Lots of comments in the last thread about Sir Charles and his height. In actuality, he was standing a bit above me in that picture and is actually only a bit over an inch taller than me. IT is amazing to think of what he was able to do at his size in the pro game. Truly astounding.
I honestly think the only time that Dave Neal is ever let out in public is for SEC Tournament pre-game
As I write this, Alabama is out to an early 9-0 lead against Florida and is completely dominating….not the way you wanna go out Gators…..
In this little area around the Georgia Dome right now, you have the SEC Tournament, an Atlanta Thrashers hockey match and a Dental Hygenists convention…..guess which one is gaining more of the guys in my group’s attention….
More in a few….
