No, this is not Alabama Sports Radio. But, the fact that Alabama pulled in another defensive tackle commitment for the 2014 class, Johnny Dwight, last night does concern the Cats. Why? Because the Crimson Tide is also pursuing Matt Elam, the John Hardin giant. Alabama now has two 3-star DT commitments for the class with Dwight and OJ Smith, and is still pursuing 4-star Elisha Shaw.
It’s clear that Saban wants Elam, who recently wrapped up a successful visit in Tuscaloosa. He’s told him that he’s the best nose tackle in the nation, but Elam has also said that he’s going to wait until January to announce his decision. If Bama keeps adding defensive tackles, will that boost Kentucky’s chances? Don’t forget Ohio State, who offered Elam yesterday. Elam says he’ll go visit the Buckeyes, but has also said that one of his top priorities is playing in the SEC.
Come be a hero, Matt.
