Evening Notes From Around The League

Today, in honor of mayonnaise and those Phoenix Los Suns jerseys, we’ll take a look at what’s happening with the Cats in the NBA, where they say amazing happens. I have yet to see it.

— Rajon Rondo is arguably the best player on the Boston Celtics.  Rajon dished out 19 assists in the win over Cleveland in Game 2 and is averaging something like 47.6 assists per game in the playoffs.  Then there is this.

— Despite elevating his talent to superstar level and showing off in the playoffs, Rondo has turned down an invitation to play for Team USA. Rondo says he has a prior family commitment with his mother.  My guess is Six Flags.

— One former Cat that did not turn down the offer is Tayshaun Prince.  Prince was named to Team USA and will compete in Enes Kanter’s backyard at the 2010 World Championship.

— Jamaal Magloire and Nazr Mohammed were bumped from the playoffs in Round 1.  Don’t worry, Magloire didn’t go out without a fight.

— Hey, did you know Calipari may or may not be interested in the Bulls job?  Yeah, this week it’s the Bulls, last week it was the Nets.  Next week we’ll probably hear that Cal wants to return to New York to coach the Liberty.

— Speaking of NBA head coaches, Pat Riley is hinting at a return to the sidelines.  If history repeats itself, Riley will stab Stan Van Gundy in the back and take his job as soon as the Magic reach the Finals.

Kelenna Azubuike has exercised the player option in his contract for the 2010-11 season. ‘Buke averaged 14 points in nine games with Golden State this season before being sidelined with a torn patellar tendon in his left knee.

— Atlanta is still in the playoffs (well, maybe not after last night) and Randolph Morris is still riding the pine, hoping for that big moment when the Hawks will need five fouls in 22 seconds to win a pivotal Game 7.

— Keith Bogans’ season is still alive with the Spurs. Bogans scored 5 points in 8 minutes against the Suns in Game 1.  Until he is retired or traded, Bogans is dead to me.  I hate the Spurs.

— The Bucks would’ve beaten the Hawks had they not traded Jodie – FACT. Or, wishful thinking.  How ’bout the deer running into the bar in Milwaukee?! Crazy.

— I love Chuck Hayes.
