You thought your Labor Day weekend was wild? Meet Brett Cummins. The Arkansas meteorologist woke up in a hot tub next to a naked corpse with a dog collar around his neck. I can’t promise you today’s radio show will get that crazy, but still come join in on the fun by calling (502) 571-1080 or sending a text to the texting machine (919) 928-1789.

Today’s topics include:

* LaRod King speaks out

* Randall Cobb’s NFL debut tonight

* What’s holding Texas A&M back?

* More talk about renovating Rupp

It’s easily going to be one of the Top 5 shows this week. Don’t miss it.

    Couple of arena notes:
    The hiring of the “Space Group” as the lead architect/planner is a big deal b/c they are not the standard, “go-to” designed of stadiums. Basically all basketball, football & baseball areans are deisgned by 3 firms: Ellerbe-Beckett (Conseco, FedEx), HKS (Lucas Oil, Cowboys, etc.), HOK-Populous (Pepsi, United Center, etc.).

    You definitely know who Brent Rice is, especially being a lawyer.

    You have to drop ul. It should already have been dropped. It does nothing for the UK program and for the vast majority of UK fans it is an unimportant game. Why give louisville city college the honor of playing UK.

  42. Andy P.
    10:42 am September 8, 2011 Permalink

    I don’t think they go to 9 SEC games, they play 2 Western Division teams rather than 3. The SEC coaches will fight a 9 game conference schedule hard because they don’t won’t 5 SEC road games every other year.

  43. Jax Teller
    10:42 am September 8, 2011 Permalink

    What about moving Ole Miss to the East. They’ve always seemed to be the team who most resembles a team from the East. You’d be able to keep the rivalry they have with Miss State by having them play every year as part of the West vs. East.

    If UK wins 6 or 7 in a row over UofL then they cant use the ‘they scurred’ argument. But if Louisville beats us in the next could years then it could be spun that way.

  51. Robert in SC
    10:53 am September 8, 2011 Permalink

    Miss St is one of the 4 best teams in the entire league this year and top 20 team. They are rolling bigtime in Starkville and as long as Dan Mullen is there UK will NOT beat them. They are loaded at skill positions this year and their defensive front is stout. They will win at least 9 games this year and will be playing on New Years Day again or beyond.

  52. Andy P.
    10:53 am September 8, 2011 Permalink

    We had no shot to beat Miss State as long as Steve Brown was our defensive coordinator and Dan Mullen was the Miss State head coach. Things have changed with the hiring of Rick Minter.

    Traditionally yes, they have been a program in range of UK beating that we would always see as a possible win. But they have elevated their program to a different level under Mullen and most UK fans dont understand that. This isnt the same Miss St program as when Joe Lee Dunn and Jackie Sherrill were there. These guys are legit and on a new level.

    Louisville can’t get into the Big 10 based upon the current academic requirements of the Big 10. You have to have a certain rating of which only 2-3 schools in the SEC have & Louisville does not.

  65. Hestkuk
    11:15 am September 8, 2011 Permalink

    If Texas. OU, etc… go west to the Pac 16 then Louisville is in, if they come east and all go Big 10 or some of the schools go SEC then there wont be enough slots for UofL in the east.

  66. BlueFins

    Matt, Vanetti was talking about this yesterday. Ricky P is not leaving the Big East. He was a square peg in a round hole in the SEC. He did not enjoy his trips to Starkville, Fayetteville, and the like. His pompous ass likes the big cities of the Big East. And I’m sure Turtleneck sold him on UL joining the Big East when he was courting him. Not sure ACC is going to excite him.

    Kentucky will get the boot from the SEC before Louisville gets left out of a major Conference. Charter membership will be revoked by a majority vote or reorganization after dissolving the old SEC. 4 million people in Kentucky pales when compared to Virginia, North Carolina, Texas, Missouri and even Oklahoma. Matt said today that if a UK coach can win six or seven games that is all we can expect and that means the coach is successful. It is fans like Matt that cause UK to have such a dismal football program. It is not the player’s fault; it is not the coach’s fault; it is not the administration’s fault. The poor performance of Kentucky football is squarely on the shoulders of Matt and other fans who have the same foolish ideas that he has. If you never demand better than mediocre, mediocre is all you will get.
