Thanks for joining us, I’ll be back shortly with quotes from the show and possibly some video. Keep your necks stretched, I think we may be looking up at a banner again soon. Lastly, shout out to the website. She was a warrior today.
5:37- When making the announcement they said they’d be playing their next four years at Kentucky. They must know something we don’t about an NBA team coming here.
5:36- Asked who would win a one on one game, Andrew said Aaron would win. But WHO CARES?!?! They will be playing on the same team. OUR TEAM!
5:35- They thanked Maryland and SMU for offering scholarships, said it was an honor. Said they felt like rockstars on UK visit.
5:33- Here we go… They have always known they wanted to go to college together, wanted to keep doing what they are doing.
5:32- Larry Brown vs. Under Armor vs. Defending Champs
5:30- Identical twins have almost identical brainwave patterns. I hope they are thinking three goggles.
5:29- Goodness, these guys would look good in blue. Am I right?
5:27- Commercial again. They said it is happening when they come back. But Matt told me he was good at basketball. So I have trust issues with people. We shall see.
5:25- Now talking about Darren Dowdell, the 16th ranked TE who has verballed to Kentucky.
5:23- Just realized this program was an hour long. I’m not sure how much longer I can handle the anticipation. I’m also not sure how much longer my bladder can handle this Coke Zero.
5:21- SEC has 5 of the top 10 2013 football recruiting classes. Also, grass is green.
5:19- More football stuff. Yawn.
5:17- Andrew and Aaron walk into the gym, dressed in suits and ear pieces. I wish I could hack into that feed and tell them what to say.
5:15- Commercial. *takes first breath in minutes* It’s a Papa John’s commercial. Has to be a good sign, right? Yikes, followed by a Billy Clyde Dr. Pepper commercial. I’m now going to stop looking for signs in the commercials.
5:13- Shout out to @DaveUK4Life who is in Malaysia and has stayed up all night for this announcement.
5:12- The show has begun talking about top 10 football recruits. Surprisingly, Kentucky isn’t on any of their lists. Must be because of the coaching uncertainty.
5:11- Telep says SMU is excited to make the final 3. Congratulations?
5:09- For some reason, they just interviewed a SMU basketball writer. Adorable. A Maryland writer says reasons they may choose Maryland is their longtime familiarity with people around the program.
5:07- Derek Willis tweets “Hopefully going to have two new teammates soon.” I cosign that tweet for him.
5:06- Aaron has crazy range. Also great off the dribble. They compare him to Ben Gordon, Joe Johnson, and Brandon Roy.
5:05- They compare Andrew to Chauncey Billups, Tyreke Evans, and Deron Williams.
5:04- Andrew says he is terrible at video games, and his main focus is on winning. Aaron says he didn’t understand why people were sleeping outside when he visited there. Said the fans wanting autographs and knowing who they were was an AWESOME feeling.
5:02- Telep calls this announcement a heat check for UK recruiting. Pretty sure UK has been “NBA Jam on fire” for 3 years.
5:02- Dave Telep, Paul Biancardi, and a guy named Matt in glasses are covering the show.
5:01- Oh good, the band and cheerleaders are here. And SMU was mentioned as a finalist. That’s adorable.
5:00- Here we go. The moment we’ve been waiting for all week is upon us. It’s time to forget about Patrick Towles’ redshirt and football facilities. It’s time to focus on the first pieces of the 2014 national title run. Andrew and Aaron Harrison could be throwing themselves into the fold within the next 30 minutes or I could be throwing my remote across the room. In the words of Kevin from Home Alone, “This is it. Don’t get scared now.”
