Kentucky didn’t have to be Putting on the Ritz, palookas. That newfangled “forward pass” didn’t seem to help anybody today. Vandy QB Mackenzi Adams completed just 11 of 24 passes for 124 yards, a TD and an INT. As a team, Kentucky completed just 7 of 14 passes for 91 yards and two INTs. (Really though, that 28-yard completion to La’Rod King on our final scoring drive was pretty crucial.)
So Kentucky went old-school. 308 yards rushing for the team, led by those live wires Derrick Locke (25 rushes for 144 yards, 1 TD) and Randall Cobb (14 rushes for 99 yards, 2 TDs). Of course, it helps that Vandy’s defnese were a bunch of rag-a-muffins by the second half.
Kentucky wins their 6th game of the year, 24-13. The old-school way to celebrate would be a nice bathtub gin party with some spiffy Lillian Hardin records. Time to get spifflicated and celebrate those Wild Cats’ 4th straight season of bowl-elegibility.
