A new 7-footer coming to Lexington

(Not the actual statue.)

As if you needed something else to climb on next spring after Kentucky wins the national championship, the UK Alumni Association is bringing in a bronze Wildcat statue to put in the soon-to-be built Wildcat Plaza. The plaza will be located across from Memorial Coliseum on Avenue of Champions. The Wildcat Plaza will include the Wildcat statue, benches, and some pretty rocks and flowers. The $300,000 project is expected to be completed by April. (Hmmm… perfect timing.)

If done right, the new statue could be a big hit on campus. Nearly every major university has a statue or a giant rock or some kind of monument for every student to pose with for their Facebook profile picture. This could be Kentucky’s.

Although, I was hoping for a 15-foot Josh Harrellson or a three goggles sculpture.

Go bronze Cats.

I would suggest not planting the flowers until after the first weekend in April. They are going to get trampled.

It should be a park of bathroom stalls and in the center should be a bronze statue of a disapproving Billy Clyde. That way, a student can enter a stall after a bad day or poor test performance and come back out a winner.

Need the KSR investigating team on this one. Would UofL really allow a kid to participate in Spring Drills when there were obvious questins about his ACT score. I thought UofL was better than to let this happen. At least that is what they preach from their nests. http://m.thetandd.com/sports/article_d1fae700-a465-11e0-b133-001cc4c03286.html

I wish this statue was going to be in front of Commonwealth. We need something iconic out there for the fans to gravitate to and be a new tradition.

The only logical statue should be Bill Keightley sitting in his courtside chair. Can I get an Amen?

Tradition should be – players/fans rub the paws at least 24 hrs before game for luck!
