Billboards! Billboards everywhere!
There’s an article in the Courier-Journal about the University of Kentucky opening an office in downtown Louisville. Now, I have to admit that it looks pretty good seeing that brick building with that “University of Kentucky” scrolled across the top of the doorway, but I take even more pleasure in the fact that I know it’s getting under the skin of nearly every Louisville fan – and probably for no good reason. In fact, there are two things that I really enjoy about this story.
First, the final quote from Bill Stone of the U of L Board of trustees just reeks of insecurity. Stone said “Maybe it’s a reaction to the fact that U of L has a record number of applicants and more and more kids in this city, region and state want to come to U of L.” It reminds me of something my little brother (coincidence?) would say when confronted with something that should not bother him, but does because he’s insecure. Thanks for the fact update there, buddy. I’m surprised he didnt end it with “your mom goes to college”.
Second, the post from a U of L fan on the message board. I’d insult him, but his post is good enough. He says:
“NOW YOU KNOW IF WE OPENED ANYTHING IN LEXINGTON WITH UOFL ON IT,IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BOMBED ON THE FIRST NIGHT.IT DOESN’T BOTHER ME ONE BIT.IT’S ALWAYS THE UK FANS THAT TAKE IT TOO FAR!! BUT YOU SEE THEY HAD TO COME TO THE REALLEST STATE IN THE KY TO GET ATTENTION..LOL…”
There are a couple of things I am confused by in this post, not including that he’s so “not bothered by it” that he made a post in all caps complaining about it. That’s just typical little brother logic.
First, I’m going to need a definition on the word “realest”, which is what I assume he meant by “reallest”. Second, I know we have a spirited rivalry, but weapons of mass, medium or small destruction have never been involved as far as I know. He claims that if “we” opened an office in Lexington, then blah, blah, blah. There is no doubt in my mind that this guy did not attend any schooling above the 4th or 5th grade. If you doubt me, then what about his claims that Louisville is the “reallest state in the KY”? Exactly. He does, however, manage to convey his little brother complex through his all caps and his “UK FANS TAKE IT TOO FAR” comment. Instead of the C-J, maybe he and his buddies should spend some time on this site. It might be more helpful.
109 days until the Louisville game….
