Its late at night and I want to do some more research on both of these issues before I comment a great deal. But two quick things:
(1): The more I hear about the Calipari situation, the less I am concerned. The SAT issue occurred before the kid got on campus and the money issue looks to not be a huge situation, especially if it is simply a failure to pay back funds. We shall see if that remains the case, but that is how it looks now. Either way, UK says they knew about it, contacted the NCAA and the NCAA still gave them a clean sheet on Calipari. Assuming all that is true, then this may end up being much concern about nothing. More on this tomorrow.
(2): In my view, Gillispie may have just done a career kamikaze mission down in Texas. For reasons that I really want to get into tomorrow, this law dog believes that Clyde has put himself out there to take a public relations beat down unlike any other. On the legal question, Clyde has a decent chance at being successful on one of his claims. But by filing this case, he has put his entire career at UK under the spotlight and has given the University the chance to define in detail why it let him go “for cause.” I cant imagine the reason he would do that. It will be ugly before this is over and Clyde only has himself and this new lawsuit to thank.
A LOT to talk about tomorrow….come join us
