A great article on Calipari’s generosity

If you can find time in your busy schedule of sitting on a boat and eating hot dogs today, Brett McMurphy of CBSSports.com has an excellent piece on John Calipari, the philanthropist. We’ve all witnessed Coach Cal’s generosity since he’s been in Lexington, but it never gets old to read more about his charitable side and his ability to touch the lives of so many others. The article focuses on Calipari’s significant contributions to the V Foundation and how the recent Dick Vitale Gala was an emotional evening as Cal reflected on losing his mother to lung cancer.

On a day when many are bashing Calipari’s name after the Tressel firing, this is one story that gets it right: John Calipari is a good man and we’re proud to have him.

[Coach Cal makes right calls when it comes to charity, too]

Is it possible (now that there has been many articles about how great Cal is) that this site quit perpetuating the myth everyone is out to get UK and Cal?

4- Glad I’m not the only one who notices that. Problem is, controversy generates publicity. Just like negative UK articles give the writers hits, writing about a bias against UK on here gives this site hits. I completely agree with you, but I really don’t see it happening anytime soon. Nothing against KSR in general; there are some good things here. But yeah, this paranoia needs to go.

Be glad we’ve got him…but yea, the whole world is not out to get us…only the NCAA, the media, and a world full of wannabes.

You guys might have a point about KSR generating controversy. But how does your theory explain Cal’s tweet? Are you saying that he’s paranoid, too?

No, I’m afraid Cal understands it correctly. There are certain sportswriters out there who have made a cottage industry out of bashing him (and others). Demolition experts, and they sleep well. Cal likes to put on this public face like it doesn’t bother him. But I, for one, am happy that he’s not completely burying his anger like he usually does.
