University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

87% of coaches think Kentucky will be good, 13% are salty

The masterminds behind’s Eye On College Basketball spent the summer polling coaches for their Candid Coaches series on the website. Today’s topic of debate: Will this season’s Kentucky team be closer to the 2012 title team or the 2013 NIT team?

Of the x-number of coaches polled, 87-percent believe the 2013-14 Cats will be more like the 2011-12 National Championship than last season’s NIT team.  One coach told Jeff Borzello, ““Last year’s team had Ryan Harrow. They had no shot from day one.”

Another coach said, “They have NBA guys at every position, and two at some positions. And they won’t be all young this season. They’re just going to overwhelm most everybody they play.”

“Too many egos for even Calipari to handle. I think they have some cancers on the team as well,” said one hater.

In Jeff Borzello’s takeaway, he wrote that there is no ceiling for the Wildcats.

I agree with Borzello. You?

Definitely have the talent of 2012 but without the chemistry and mental makeup (Davis, MKG). Once the Marcus Lee’s of the team realize they are only playing 8MPG, the locker room will disolve and everyone will starting thinking ME ME ME and their future in the NBA. Where there’s smoke there’s fire, and everyone knew the Twins and Randle weren’t the best of friends.

I think you should be named “Loserville fans pathetic wet dream”. I’m not even going to dignify your idiocy by mentioning all the ways that you’re wrong and guilty of wishful thinking. Enjoy watching the Cats cut down the nets in Texas, while the dirty birds sit at home.

#1 yes, Randle and the Harrison’s hate each other so much they refused to go to the same school. Oh wait…..WHAT?

There’s not a guy on the team with an attitude problem. If they had ego problems, they would not come to UK because they know how he recruits. These guys all like each other, are comfortable with each other, and want to win a championship…the reason they joined forces. UK will be BETTER than the 2012 team. The reason? They will have a lot more depth and will play fast for 40 minutes, probably even pressure a lot more.

Even if it were true that Randle & the Harrisons have issues (which I think is hogwash anyway), who could possibly be considered “cancers”? What an idiotic statement.

No way they go undefeated, but who cares lets get back to the final 4 and have a chance to win it there.

No way they go unbeaten? Cal has already had 2 teams that got really close to going unbeaten in the regular season, one of which of course went on to win the title. This team is, on paper, more talented than both. I’m not going to say they will go unbeaten, bc that would be silly, but it’s equally silly to rule it out completely

Wish everyone would slow their roll on the undefeated talk. It would be great, but not necessary. Playing at Kentucky with all the hype is hard enough for a group of 18 and 19 year olds. Talking about going undefeated just adds to the pressure. Just win the last six and all will be well.

I honestly don’t like the undefeated talk either. If it happens, great. I think it puts a lot of pressure on very young kids. If they lose a game or two early before they get a little experience playing together, is the whole fan base going to turn on them? Go Cats.

#12 saying that Cal has already had 2 teams that were close to going undefeated is rewriting the story after it happened. The Wall team looked so young and clueless in that road game at South Carolina. Theres no way that team couldve gone undefeated. The 2012 Championship team lost in December and then went on a tear. Again when you look back and see they only had 2 loses then it appears they couldve gone undefeated, but it was never going to happen. I’d love to see it this season but its not happening. The season is too long and theres too many factors involved.

I am not worried about a possible undefeated season. If it ever happens, it happens. I do think this team has a great shot at bringing #9 home and that should be their focus.

#13 hit it on the head! Undefeated season shouldn’t be on their mind…play Calipari basketball…do the small things that are value added even if you aren’t scoring…should be an awesome season with a lot of potential for #9.

#16. Remember it took a buzzer beater for IU to win on their home floor with us basically playing with 4 players. Jones and Teague were non factors in that game. So yes that team was very close to going undefeated because I believe if they win that game and make it through the regular season undefeated then they would have went undefeated.

Undefeated is okay with me and I would LOVE it. But I’ll settle for #9 and then 10 and then 11 etc. I certainly hope there is no animosity between Randle and the Harrison twins. Perhaps this theory is some peoples’ wishful thinking. Trying to stir up something that perhaps is not there or OLD rumors. We need that “team” attitude like the 2012 team to win another championship. These guys appear to all have one mindset – Win a National Championship. That is the first step and I think these guys can do it! I can’t wait for the season to begin. GO CATS!

Okay, as a pre-Boomer, I admit I had to google the adjective “salty”
to find out its new online Millennial definition. But I’m really interested in the Gen Y etymology, specifically WHEN “salty” came to mean “mean or disrespectful” instead of having something to do with NaCl.

@22 – I remember Teague did a lot of growing up in the second half of that game. TJ was in a parallel universe, AD & MKG were in deep foul trouble, and Teague did what needed to be done. The game wouldn’t have bee so close if not for MT. Give the man his due.

@30, when Ryan had a good game, so did the team. He was fast but very soft. It just goes to show how important your point guard is. This year, we have a really solid point guard and those two brothers have played together all their life. People keep talking about experience. No team with have what the twins have. By the way, I have been doing searches on the twins and James Young. What is the latest news on when they will be coming? We are days from the start of school?
