What do we take away from Athens?

Kentucky forward Josh Harrellson (55), left, and Georgia forward Jeremy Price (50) fight for a loose ball ball in the first half of an NCAA college basketball game Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011 in Athens, Ga.. (AP Photo/John Bazemore)

7 notes after a tough loss in Athens:

1. The many faces of Terrence Jones: We saw it all from T-Jones tonight.  A first half in which he did nothing and saw Trey Thompkins eat him alive.  A start of the 2nd half that saw him ultra-aggressive and likely the best player on the floor.  And then we saw the foul bug bite him again, with his 4th coming on an absolutely silly reach-in.  He came back in at the 6 minute mark, played tentatively and did not score again until the game was in doubt.  Jones has, for whatever reason, fell in love with his jump shot, which really isn’t very good.

2. Foul Line Troubles: Kentucky came in shooting 71% from the free throw line.  They shot 62.5% against Georgia.  Georgia came in shooting 62% this season, and they shot 88.2% against Kentucky.  They outscored UK from the charity stripe 30-10.  Cats have to find a way to limit the fouls, because I did not see many bad officiating calls this game (no more than unusual), and if teams are shooting twice as many, or 3 times as many, free throws as the Cats, that will doom them.

3. Darius Miller was Finally Aggressive: And it turned out to not be much difference in the stat line.  Miller was really pushing it hard to the basket today, something many fans have called for, and yet he didn’t play well.  He struggled to finish around the basket, and was forced to play the 4-spot with Jones on the bench several times.  He finished 2-11 from the field, and I am afraid I am starting to join the camp of those who think Miller just might not be as good as we want him to be.  He is option 5 on this team at this point.

4. Defense Non-Existent: The first half was likely the worst defensive half of the year, or at least equal to the 1st half against Connecticut.  Georgia’s offensive of screen and cuts seemed to confuse the Cats, and led to many open shots, layups, and dunks.  Whether or not this was just a 1 game anomaly will be seen later, but certainly the defensive effort and execution was nowhere near where it needed to be to become a competitor in March.

5. First Half Struggles: No clue why the Cats have come out flat in the 1st half of 2 straight games, but this can not become a trend.  There was not 1 single offensive category the Cats led in at halftime.  UGA shot better from the field, 3-point line, free throw line, had more rebounds, steals, blocks, assists, and less turnovers than Kentucky.  And generally that means bad news for a team.  For Kentucky, it meant an 11-point deficit.  UK was able to eliminate that gap fairly quickly in the 2nd half, but it makes you wonder if this would have been a close game if Kentucky had not come out flat.

6. Was that a zone?:  Cats switched to a zone in the 2nd half, which worked for much of the time, allowing the Cats to take a lead.  But, once Georgia figured that out, it was the same defensive ineptitude from the 1st half.  On the positive side, it’s good to know Kentucky can play a zone effectively.

7. Road Worries: Don’t look now, but Kentucky has played 3 true road games, and has gone 1-2 in those game.  Louisville was an impressive win, but Kentucky has more talent than both UNC and UGA, and was physically whipped in both of those games.  They play at Alabama in 10 days.  An Alabama team rebuilding.  If the Cats struggle there, this team might not have the toughness to play well on the road.  And you can’t win conference championships without that.

The only serious worry I come out of the Georgia game with is that Darius Miller played aggressive and still did not contribute much.  All along, fans have thought that Miller would be a serious player on this team, and he still has flashes.  But, he is far too inconsistent, and seems to still struggle mentally once the shots don’t fall.  Other than that, this was a poor performance from Kentucky, but nothing stands out to me as being a long term problem.  Things like foul shooting come on go.  Things like 3-point shooting come and go.  The Cats got trapped by a dangerous Georgia team on the rise, but luckily Auburn and LSU come to Rupp this week, meaning UK should be able to lick their wounds just fine over the next 10 days.  At Alabama will be a HUGE game in my mind.  Getting a road conference win against a decent team will go miles for another conference championship.

Mourn this loss, and then move on.  Still so much potential from the guys on this team.  And if you are watching the college basketball landscape, everybody is losing outside the Top 5, which should lead to an exciting NCAA Tournament and gives the Cats as good a chance as any.  Just need to play better than today.

You said, “… I did not see many bad officiating calls this game (no more than unusual)…”

I must have been watching a different game. Seems like the commentators on TV also noted the inconsistency in the officiating. I’ve never complained about the referees before, but this one… well…

Two things I disagree with…1, the officiating was terrible…The commentators even noted in on more than one occasion. The no-call on Lamb followed directly by the phantom foul call on Jones totally changed the complexion of the game. And I don’t care what anyone says, there is NO WAY we fouled Georgia to the tune of 30+ free throw attempts and they only fouled us to the tune of half that number. Both teams were attacking the rim, and I don’t see how that kind of discrepancy is even possible. 2, Miller was aggressive and looked good, but his shots just were not falling today. We all know he’s better than he showed today, and it’s no indication of his importance to this team. He was doing the right things today, and has been in the last few games, he’s just struggling getting shots to fall. If they do, he’ll be what we have expected from him since he stepped foot in Lexington.

What game were you watching BTI ? The fouls were 24-14 in favor of UGA. With KY leading 58-57 and 7+ min. to go Lamb gets slammed and then Jones picks up his 4 th on a touch foul. Yea it happens on the road in the SEC but for you to say it didn’t happen is insane.

16 FT’s for Kentucky and 34 for Georgia. I agree the officiating was biased. They scored 30 of their points from the free throw line.

OK, I’m not sure that BTI even watched this game. Did you??? Good lord. Darius was far from aggressive. He caught the ball in the post and then continued to take it weak. He passed up multiple good shots to take tougher ones shying away from contact. How many times did he get to the line today???

Refs definitely played a role in the outcome of the game. If not directly, then indirectly because of the way the players were reacting.

The officiating was beyond bad. It was redicuously inconsistant to say the least. All 4 of Jones fouls were just freakin stupid. The were all borderline but he put himself in a position for the ref to make a call. He sucked again today. How many 5 footers did the Cats miss today?

Miller only got to the lines once. He faded away from the contact rather than create it. He did have a bigger guy on him most of the time, but he didn’t pump fake and create the foul situation. I’d like to have seen him start farther out with the defender, pump fake and go by him.

Did Liggins and Jones forget that Knight is the point guard? It looked like pickup basketball in the driveway, with whoever checked the ball up top, shot it! Jones was so locked in on wanting to shoot the ball, that he missed guys wide open, and by the time he passed to them, they were covered. This kid is 18 yrs. old, why is there a problem with his energy level? He is starting to remind me of Rodrick Rhodes.

#2 you took the words right outta my mouth. what game was this guy watching. The non foul call on Lamb that lead to Jones 4th foul changed the entire game. they should 3 to 1 Fts but the refs werent bad how does that make any sense. The refs took us right out of this game when Jones got his 2nd foul in 1st half then they took us out again on his 4th. how can u expect a guy to play aggressive whenever he touches someone its a foul but he gets hammered on the other end and their is no call. the only thing bryan said that was true is that the refs r consistenly bad whenever UK plays it makes me sick and not enjoy the game. we had a real shot at this game despite everything that happened till Jones 4th foul. i still really like this team we can shoot the ball well just didnt happened tonite. if we get hot come tournament time watching out hot shooting can be guarded. I would really like to see Knight take the game overa little bit more thou. when he plays aggressive we play well. he runs the show and i didnt see him running it today. oh well just one game season isnt over we still have a lot of talent of this team. screw the NCAA GO CATS!!

When Jones is in foul trouble, we are in trouble. A big reason Josh has been successful is that Jones takes attention away from him. That was the difference in this game and UNC.

Most of his fouls are dumb but his 4th was a clean strip and not a foul.

I think Knight has made a huge transition from a 2-guard to the point, but I’d like to see him take his man – especially when we need a bucket. When he did this tonight, he blew right by the guy! I think Calipari’s gotten him to think pass first, but there are times when he needs to take the advantage he has to score.

Defense was as porous as the f-ball team. Too many uncontested short to mid-range jumpers. Jones needs to stop reading his press clippings. I’m totally unimpressed with his play right now. And that stupid-ass frowny shit needs to go. The only thing it does to his game is make him foul. Cal won’t be sitting with him in a draft room this year. Liggins needs to concentrate on defense and leave the scoring to Lamb and Knight. One thing boys, you actually have to play to win the game.

cats are going to have games officiated like this every year… but the refs didn’t win this game for georgia. they came out fired up and played harder than we did.

the big worry is who is going to be “the” guy this year… last year, when we needed a big play, there was no question that wall would take the shot. that leadership and trust does not exist on this year’s team, at least not yet.

  32. Bluecalizone
    10:17 pm January 8, 2011 Permalink

The no call involving Lamb was the most obvious foul not called that I think I’ve ever seen, and it was a turning point in the game. Did it cost us a win? I’m not willing to say that. We have more talent then them, but we had too many liabilities today. We missed enough free throws to win the game, they hit nearly all of theirs. We continued to over penetrate into 2 or 3 defenders instead of pulling up and taking a 8 ft bunny. Miller, I give. I’m beginning to wonder if he really does have all the potential we’ve thought he has. Jones was a non factor except for the first 4 minutes of the 2nd half. Liggins, Miller, and Jorts were also offensive non factors today. You can’t have that many offensive non factors and expect to win, especially when you play your worst defensive game thus far. Just a bad,bad day.

The NCAA has given the Refs some cash to F^ck UK as well as they did.. I have been a High School Ref for 21 years.. I won’t criticize other Refs but the officiating today was horrible.. If you’re gonna call touch fouls then be consistent, if your gonna let the kids play, then be consistent on both ends of the floor.. I know it’s easier to see calls sitting in the stand because you can get blocked out by players, but the no call with Lamb was very obvious from every angle on the floor.. The last couple years the officiating has been terrible.. The commisioners from every conference are gonna have to meet with the head of officials and recommend more strict evaluation process… If the officials can’t meet the expectations then fire their ass…. Go Big Blue!!

I went to the UT-Memphis game this past week. If we try to run with UT, it will be one long, UGLY game for us. UT has too much talent and depth for us, and grinding teams (see USC’s O’Neill this year, and even BCG teams) cause Pearl trouble. Running teams play right into Pearl’s hands, though.

Ok BTI is a good writer, damn people are critical.
The refs were bad…the non call on Lamb and then the 4th on Jones was blatant BS. It did hurt but not as bad as us sucking at the foul line, missing easy shots in the paint all night, sucking from the three point line and playing lax D.
If we would have played a great game and lost by a basket then the refs maybe could be to blame but that wasn’t the case.
Oh yeh, whoever said UT could run with us is wrong. That was the other problem tonight, too much half court slow play. We can play the fast game just ask anyone at the chicken barn. So I hope UT runs with us. I hope every team we play will go up tempo, that benefits us.

The CATS were not ready to play and that was noticed by many in their horrible warm-up and getting down by 7 in the first minutes of the game. The coaching staff struggled. Miller looked horrible. Knight did not take over the game. Jones ball hogged to get his 20+ which I am about sick of. Jorts rebounded but he has to score. Doron was soft but scored. Overall… we sucked up the court today and the only way we are going to fix it is to play the one strategic thing of basketball that we didn’t play today… it’s called DEFENSE.

Once again BTI is wrong and useless. Do they just keep you around because you’re a friend or something because you don’t know jack about what you are talking about. The officiating today was some of the worst i’ve seen. Lamb was clearly fouled on the one drive to the basket. What you called a “silly reach-in” from Jones was actually a clean strip which even one of the commentators mentioned as well. And of course there’s the missed out of bounds touch by the Georgia player that ran into the fans. They let Georgia play rough and called nearly everything on us which is apparent by the foul discrepancy between the two teams. “Did not see many bad officiating calls”?? That statement alone proves you have no idea what you are talking about and should not be one to break down a game. Stick to your lame “rants” that nobody reads and let someone more qualified break down a game.

In Jones defense, he should have never been called for the 4th foul. How that ref let Lamb get leveled right before that and didn’t call a foul is beyond me. That’s one of the worst no calls I’ve seen. It completely turned the momentum of that game.

Start Lamb, play Miller at the 4, until Jones gets it. What is up with Jones posing after he dunks or when he scores over somebody. Just get your ass back and play defense.

Jones shoots a bad three, and Ga. gets a runout on the other end. We have some guards who can shoot the three, what we need is your 6’9″ ass to get under the basket and fight for rebounds.

Coach was all over the big bald black ref., you could read his lips, he told him to call the fouls, I assume he didn’t mean, make fouls to call on UK.

“Everyone says the officiating was terrible, yet they only have 2 examples of this: The Lamb no-call and the Jones ticky tack foul right after. Which were both bad calls I agree. But 2 calls does not make a bad officiating game.”

No… there were a LOT more than that, those were just the most obvious. How about when the UGA player knocked the ball out of bounds… the play where he dove into the stands… everyone on the court and off could see UGA touched it last, yet it was out of bounds to Georgia.

All day fouls were called against UK but the same type were not called against UGA. Did you not hear the commentator on TV remark at how inconsistent the calls were? You know he was not a UK affiliated commentator, right?

The refs didn’t cost us the game by themselves, but they didn’t help. Poor FT shooting, bad decisions on offense, and lackadasical defense hurt us the most. I hate to see Jones hit a 3, because after he does he will keep throwing up bricks thinking he’s Jodie Meeks or something.

This is what you need to know.

    1. Brandon Knight isn’t a point guard. He will never be a point guard. He is a combo guard at best and he has a scorer’s mentality. I watched Tyreke Evans go through this same thing @ Memphis and still unable to grasp it with the Kings because he isn’t a point guard either. It’s almost like youth rec league ball where you make your most athletic kid the point guard and pray things work out. Maybe we can try Terrance Jones next? Jorts could handle the rock! That doesn’t mean Knight isn’t an outstanding player but he does not nor ever will facilitate an offense. This team doesn’t have a point guard and we basically have the same player in Knight and Lamb. Why more effort and pressure wasn’t put on Kyrie (and yes I’m aware of the toe but forgive the hypothetical) to be the PG of this class just boggles my mind. You can sell Wall and Bledsoe but you couldn’t sell Knight/Irving or Irving/Lamb?

    2. The entire Enes Kanter situation was/is/and will go on being a fiasco and most of that lays at the feet of Calipari. He chased this dream when EVERYBODY knew it was never going to happen. He could have focused more attention on guys like Payne @ Michigan State but wanted to pursue this mirage that has quickly evaporated in the hypocrisy and ax grinding shavings of the NCAA Bureaucracy. And don’t give me that shield of “we’re the members” b.s. they hid behind. And the Soviet Union was nominally a socialist worker’s democracy.

    3. All that being said our “beloved” AD shouldn’t be making statements about not playing Kanter if he sought and was given injuctive relief. This is EXACTLY why the NCAA can thumb it’s nose and do what it wants. This farce needs to end now and we have the power, prestige and bully pulpit to get it done. But that would mean all the talk of doing the right thing by Kanter wasn’t just talk. We’d actually have to risk something. But we won’t. We’ll sit back and rattle some sabers and the NCAA will just go on making up the rules as it pleases or in the favor of whatever pet they’ve decided to protect at that given moment.

    4. Don’t even get me started on Joker Phillips. And you know what? Mike Hartline still isn’t a great QB and to lay the failures of this game on Morgan Newton (as some have) show little understanding of the game, this program or the players and coaches leading it. It’s a system failure people and I’m starting to believe a hard truth: That we got lucky with with the classes of Woodson, Burton, Woodyard, Little, Tamme etc and they still never reached the potential they could have due to ineffective playcalling and lack of balls.

    5. K.R.Y.P.T.O.N.I.T.E. Lives!

    6. Right now, somewhere in Idaho, there’s a white supremacist knee deep in Aryan poon waiting to cash his Megamillions winner. This is why either God doesn’t exist or he’s a great practical joker.

  117. Get Off Jones
    3:45 am January 9, 2011 Permalink

    1. Jones actually shoots 32% from three…not great, but much better than 15%. 2. On the awful 3 Jones attempted in the first half, he(the shooter) was the only person to get back and got a foul for his effort. Knight loafed down the floor watching Thompkins run past him…anyone who has played ball knows that Knight should have been back on this play. 3. This game was lost on the backboards and at the free throw line. Georgia, who usually doesnt hit theirs, did, and got to shoot a ton of them. UK didnt shoot many and made a lower than their norm percentage. (Jones hit all 4 of his freebies). As for rebounding, all too often the Cats were shooting with only one man under to rebound, and they must improve on boxing out. 4. Miller, use the backboard…Liggins, shoot better shots. 5. Knight, as another poster said, was sleepwalking through today’s game. There were several times he could have, and should have taken shots…but he didn’t. 6. Why was Miller posting against a bigger, better Thompkins? Shouldn’t he have pulled him out on the floor and tried to drive on him and draw fouls? His advantage in that matchup was speed, not size and post ability. 7. This loss is not a disaster, but I do not understand for the life of me why so many people are killing Jones. He shot 50% from the field, the only player other than Jorts to do so(who was 2-4). He had 10 boards in 23 minutes…sounds like the effort was there more than most are giving credit for. He hit 4-4 free throws. Did he force a couple shots? Yes. Did Lamb? Did Miller? Did Liggins? ummm, yes. 8. Lastly, there were terrible calls today. What about the no-call when Liggins was set in the lane forever and was ran over. Should have been a charge and resulted in Georgia ball. The Lamb no-call leading to the Jones reach. The out of bounds play when Price jumped in the stands. You could go on and on. Officiating was bad, but Kentucky still could have won.

I thought Miller did the best he could do against one of the best in the SEC…Who was suppose to defend/contain or even score against trey thomkins? No kanter- harrelson–no! This game could of been won on more intense defense and then the offense would of followed. I hope that we use brandon knight to drive to the basket more, when we are up against a quality front court like UCONN UNC UGA. That would open up so many more scoring options. We have a team that is learning and progressing every game and we will be feared in the SEC and come March…

  119. As for Miller
    4:06 am January 9, 2011 Permalink

Do you disagree that pulling Thompkins out on the floor and letting Miller drive made more sense? Why let an undersized 4 try and post one of the best bigs in the SEC? That part of today’s game made no sense to me. When UK went small, Miller should have been taking Thompkins off the dribble and Jones should have been taking Price/Barnes off the dribble. There is no way Price or Barnes could have defended Jones if we spread the floor and gave it to him at the top. I actually thought that is what we planned when the small lineup came on the floor. But we preceded to try and post Jones against a bigger big and Miller against Thompkins…made no sense to me. Knight def should have been more agressive on drives to the bucket as well as shooting the three ball. It seemed like he missed a couple open jumpers and decided it wasn’t his day as a shooter. I agree, this team will be fine. But it’s frustrating to see a game that could have been won with better execution and defense go down as a loss.

What we take away from Athens a “LOSS!” I mean, think about it, who could of defended/contained or even scored against Trey Thompkins. kanter- the appeals said no– harrelson, uh hell no! This game reminded me so much of the SC game last year…. When they can beat us on the inside—we take a loss- consider UCONN UNC and now UGA. Was it the players (as some want to blame players such as Patty last year or Miller this year) or were we outcoached? Remembering the loss last year at SC and Cal said he would never board the bus “with timeouts in his pockets?”

  122. Kevin
    7:31 am January 9, 2011 Permalink

I think the big thing here BTI should understand is that the “few” bad calls DID make a difference in the game. When one of our best players sits on the bench for lengthy periods of time because of phantom fouls, it does impact the game. I felt as though anytime Jones was even close to a foul situation, the refs called it.

  123. psycocat
    7:34 am January 9, 2011 Permalink

When are we gonna stop kidding ourselves about Miller? What you see is what you get, people. We’re half way thru the season and now into SEC play. If you didn’t see it against lower level competition, you won’t see it now. Let’s just hope he can get 5-7 pts. and 5-7 boards.

  124. Nassau65
    7:45 am January 9, 2011 Permalink

Good lesson learned in Athens. You can’t play just to stay in the game. You have to play to win. Lesson learned, move on, do better next time. The officiating didn’t lose this game if we played like we did against UL. The calls made against UK (the few in question) wouldn’t have made the difference in winning or losing if we had put them away early. You come out and get down by 11-12 points and spend the rest of the game just trying to keep up-that doesn’t work against every team. IT’s Bullshit calling out BTI about the bad calls losing it for us. That’s just a sore loser’s excuse for playing poorly. Blame it on Cal if you want, but Cal is not the one handling the ball. Nobody coaches harder than he does-nobody. Cats just never seemed in the game. Take the same teams, the same refs, put them in Rupp, the Cats win. The crowd was in it, and our guys are not used to that. Good experience for the boys which will only make them better. There are a ton of teams which would have beaten us yesterday with that kind of play, and this won’t be our only loss. Florida, Vanderbilt, SC, Miss, and Tennessee (and much weaker teams on a good day) will all have a shot if we play like we did in Athens. Still a young team, fun to watch, with a lot to learn. Crazy if you think this is our last loss. Good writeup BTI! I agree with everything you said.

Our defense was horrendous. They flex cut us all day long leading to open looks at the basket. Also, I find it hard to blame B.Knight for our lack of half court offense. Guys need to pass the ball to make the defense move or drive with a purpose to draw a help defender and kick it out. Too many times we have guys who dribble 8-10 times and move four feet. My middle school team can guard you then.

Unless there is blatant bias that is so extraordinary that the conference/NCAA needs to take a look, players and fans should just BRUSH OFF whatever you see as bad officiating and move along.

    Why?

    1. There are always ways your team could have played better to win, despite anything the referees did.

    2. There will always be calls you don’t agree with.

The best basketball coach I had told me that you should EXPECT TEN ‘bad’ calls from the referees each game.

Just go ahead and gameplan as if you know there will be 10 calls that work against you. If you can play through those, then you can keep your composure and execute your game without letting the referees get into your head.

As fans, we should adopt this approach instead of freaking out of bad officiating. It would make our life a lot less stressful and maybe we UK fans wouldn’t look like such crazy folk.

But who am I kidding, if we took any stress and energy we encounter via our Kentucky fanship, then we wouldn’t be the best and most passionate fanbase in the nation.

    Carry on.

Yeah, the refs were bad, but they always are on the road in the SEC. Why not play a defense that attacks Georgia’s weakness? Cal’s stubborn love for man to man cost UK a game.

I’m a UK fan living in Louisville and even UL cans don’t whine about the refs as much as UL fans.

Our free throw defense was turrible.

NOT…… You can’t blame any loss on the refs. We played bad and that’s why we lost. However we did have momentum on our side, and the non lamb foul followed by the should be non jones foul, and the wrong call on the out of bounds really knocked the wind out of us. I think we took the lead for good with those plays. Another thing, I can’t stand jones. I think he is the most selfish player we got. He plays in whatever mood he is in, and it’s usually piss poor. I usually give him the opposite treatment we give polson, I yell PASS. Depends on how his first couple of plays go. If they go good, he plays good. If he sucks at first, look out. He needs to learn how to play through mistakes. Lamb is awesome, I want it in his hands when we need a basket. He can get the basket better than any other. That pickup ball at Rucker park really done him good.

    147) I think Coach Cal should hire you as an assistant, you have thorough knowledge of the game of basketball…. on second thought i think you should think before you post something idioc like that again. Yea the zone gave Geogia a different look but after a couple possessions they made a adjustments and got a couple easy baskets against it. You could tell Kentucky didn’t run it much as they didnt rotate well in it and they didnt understand how to play it. Coach Cal didnt lose that game, Georgia is a good team with experience and that would have been a great win for Kentucky if they could have pulled it out. The officiating was inconsistent which it made it even tougher for the Cats. Harry had a great game and is doing is exactly what he needs to do for the Cats to be successful. 95% percent of Kentucky fans are morons and dont know what they are talking and it gives us all a bad rep, calm down people the cats will be fine.
P.S. KSR should fire BTI and hire me lol

Cut these guys a break…we have three games that we lost U conn was the only beating we took. NC game within 2 points, Georgia makes 30 of 34 free throws when for the year they are 61%. We came back and took the lead. we won the game on the court and lost on the free throw line 30-10. Young cats will use this as a learning experience and still win the SEC…and be a contender for final 4.

Hey – they call him an intern because he goes to school. Most of you rednecks never went to school. At least the kid is attempting to get an education.

Quit bitchin’ about the calls and look at the facts. UK WAS NOT READY TO PLAY.

I love Cal, but how in the world is Vargas, Hood, and Poole going to learn anything when the least of mistakes they take the bench? This team is not so good that these boys should not be getting time. We will completely worn down by tournament time only playing six players. If I’m a competitive player like Hood or Poole, I transfer. You might say they will be taken care of if they stay at UK, but they will be taken care of anyway if they get a degree from a reputable university. I guess more than anything, I am just tired of seeing those guys yanked for the least mistake. How in the world are they going to learn? In this respect, Coach Cal reminds me of Billy Clyde.

As i was reading this article, i stumbled upon a statement that i knew was a misprint. The writer must not have knowlingly written that the officating was fine. Then i scrolled back up to see that in fact bti was the author and then i remebered that he is in fact an idiot and knows nothing about basketball.
