4-star receiver Lonnie Johnson will announce his commitment today

713171

According to his twitter account (and confirmed by Eleven Warriors and ESPN), 2014 4-star receiver Lonnie Johnson will announce his commitment via tweet today at 4PM. At 6’3, 180 lbs, Johnson is a versatile player (he played some running back, and is listed as an “Athlete” by Rivals), who would be another good get for the Cats. As people so often say, you can never have enough versatile 4-star receivers in the Air Raid. Actually, I have no idea if they say that, but they should. It’s true.

Johnson will choose between Ohio State, Missouri, Indiana, Purdue, and Kentucky. Come on down, Lonnie.

UPDATE: announcement coming at 4PM CENTRAL time. Sorry guys, I’m in an EST state of mind over here.

I really hope we get this kid or Kief or Berrios, I’m just glad we have options and football is fun now no matter what. Someone tell me why people from the US or maybe just kentucky have terrible attitudes.

1-not true..it’s definitely possible to be that size and weigh 180. Muscle ways more than fat. I’m about his size and I weigh 185.

He is choosing between Mizzou and UK. I like our chances here. Grades are a major issue though.

Does anyone know if we are in on some big time lineman? That seems to be the main position I have doubts about. Stoops has damn near fixed just about everything else haha

I was curious about that two – Rivals profile says he’s from Gary, In, so that’s his time. Rivals says he has offers from all the above mentioned schools, but oddly enough, he hasn’t visited any of them. Is he that good to get offers without a face-to-face with any of them?

Hey #1 are looking at that neck. Kid looks pretty solid to me. Got some pecs too. I can easily see 180.

@#8 – GPA=2.3 per Rivals. That’s all I know. He has his senior years to bring GPA up.

According to tweets, he’s down to OSU, UK and Mizzou. So we’re right there for this kid. He’s another solid get. I think the linemen and the defensemen will follow. Our first order should be the athletes to get the air-raid rolling (quick passes should help the line, coupled with the shotgun). Once we start scoring and winning 6-8 games, you can couple that with Stoops’ ability to recruit and we should roll in the others. Obvious that the coaching staff seems to be focusing on this as well as their plan of attack. We can’t outrecruit the big schools in terms of the bruisers, but we can offer them something Bama and OSU wont: wide open offense.

    18- I’m talkin about O-Line. Should’ve been more specific.

OSU. That’s fine, really. With Kief and Barrios still on the board, and with Snodgrass in the bag already, there’s only so many positions we can field. Having too much of a good thing (too many WR mouths to feed) can be just as bad as too few (transfer tidal wave and only so many scholarships).

#35 Where do you come up with that BS. Clearly there are other lines of attack, poor record, not a football school, etc. but you chose a dumba$$ lie
