2K12 Anthony Davis Wants Afternoon Notes and Podcast

That’s a pretty accurate depiction of Anthony Davis on NBA 2K12, although I am little disappointed in his 69/100 rating on the video game. He should be a 99 at the very least.
Notes…
— Kentucky fans have reason to worry about losing Julius Mays when the transfer guard visits Purdue this weekend. Mays’ high school coach said the Boilermakers are the school to beat, if Julius has a good visit. Mays grew up a Purdue fan and he says he still watches as many games as he can, so it’s hard to imagine him having anything but a good time. However, I think if we can avoid Mays committing while he is in West Lafayette, Kentucky stands the best chance at landing a commitment. Mays really likes Calipari and Kentucky; the Cats just need to avoid another Alex Oriakhi situation where the player commits while on a visit to another school. Just make it through the weekend.
— Jon Rothstein tweeted earlier today that he is hearing NC State is in the best position for Amile Jefferson. That could be true, but I’ve given up any hope of following Jefferson’s recruitment. There has been a new update every 2-3 hours since January. Just tell me when he picks, please.
— Virginia Tech head coach James Johnson confirmed this morning that Montrezl Harrell has officially asked for his release — for real this time — and he’ll be free to move about the country once Virginia Tech grants it. You can go ahead and count on Harrell visiting Lexington once the Hokies let him go. Louisville will also be a major player thanks to the relationship between Harrell and the Cards new assistant coach, Kevin Keatts. Keatts was the head coach at Harrell’s Hargrave Military Academy.
— From the NBA, the Players Association wants the age limit to go back to 18, but at least one person thinks that is a terrible idea. His name is John Calipari. He said, “You would be encouraging ninth-graders to think about the draft instead of worrying about academics,” Calipari said. “I can’t understand going back. You can’t have the baseball model since we don’t have minor league basketball. And the D-League is a man’s league.”
— Our friend Jeff Borzello of CBS wrote a solid piece on the Nerlens Noel situation and how it’s not Kentucky’s problem. Take a minute or two to read it and then leave a comment telling Jeff how great his hair has been looking lately. He calls it “The Ryan Gosling” look.
— Nerlens Noel says he is in good position to qualify. Anyone saying otherwise can shut up.
— Be sure to check out Part 2 of Matt’s interview with Mitch Barnhart tonight on KSTV. Barnhart was incredibly open with Matt about everything and it made for an interview unlike anything we’ve seen in the past from the UK AD. We’ll have Part 1 on the website later today, in case you missed it last night.
— Tomorrow is your LAST CHANCE TO AUDITION FOR THE KSTV CASTING CALL. We’ll be at Sam Swope Honda World in Louisville tomorrow morning for registration from 8:00 – 11:00 a.m. It is the best opportunity to become a Kentucky sports reporter and cover the Cats for the next year as one of Matt’s co-hosts on KSTV. If you’re one of those people who say “I can do that job,” you’d be crazy to not come out and give it a shot. We hope to see you there.
— On this morning’s podcast, Matt and Ryan discussed Joker’s future at Kentucky and buffalo wings. Have a listen…

Sullinger and Drummond are rated higher than Davis. lol. Who’s the clown responsible for rating the players? Bob Knight?
Why does it look like he is wearing eyeliner? strange pic….
Defense is 66? Post D is C? Come on now…
Clearly Jerry Tipton was involved with these ratings.
Here’s all of the ones they added to 2K12. MKG looks good too:

Those stats will look a lot different next year.
how is davis’ defense worse than his offense haha
These are not official from EA Sports….just what some dude sat down and spent the better part of a month doing. No way Davis isn’t the highest rated player by far once EA releases real ones. Faces look pretty solid, but rating are garbage.
Sounds like Harrell will be our best bet and best fit involving any of the remaining players. There is also a rumor that Tony Trocha may be re-classifying for the 2012 class.
How is his offense rated higher than his defense?
Sounds like a crappy video game. Sullinger and Drummond? I’ll stick to Ninetendo’s Double Dribble.
Montrezl! want him badly at UK.
why would he consider the filthy Cards if they already have Behanan at PF?
Ya, this was made by some random dude, not the actual 2K release….
How can a recruit have a bad visit at Purdue? Anyone got a good answer? If yes, we should make it happen. lol
Sullinger being rated over Davis is quite a stretch. Drummond being rated over Davis is a joke.
Fortunately, these ratings are one notch below meaningless.
Yeah, those ratings are not correct. Andre Drummond and Anthony Davis are nowhere in the same ballpark in terms of skills.
I don’t know how two people can look at the same damn thing and think completely opposite things about it. That’s hardly an accurate depiction of AD. It looks nothing like him, even with the unibrow.
So the NBA leader in blocked shots gets a 66 on defense?
Credibilty – lost
Does anybody read the comments before they post? IT WAS NOT OFFICIAL 2K ROSTER!!!!! PISS!!!!
Btw draft class I dl’d had Davis 1 with an 82 rating and mkg right behind him with an 80. But the faces weren’t nearly as good.
Good grief, that guy never watched our kids play at all!
I have been hearing the Mays situation is EXACTLY like the Lyons situation. Kid already has ties to a certain school, they visit there first, and commit. We wiff on All of these guys this spring but Noel. But, that’s ok. Cal is still the recruiting guru. These are just some strange kids this spring, who really made some stupid picks. But, if they can’t buy into what Cal is elling, they really shouldn’t be here. As he says, it’s not for everyone. A “down” year is fine next season. Think about it: he is going to be turning down top 20 kids in the 2013 class. This is just a weird situation this spring.
KSR, you really need to tone down the “BE WORRIED, BE VERY WORRIED!”
This chicken little stuff is getting old.
If Mays doesn’t comet to UK, we wil be fine.
Oriakhi went to Missouri because it was the best place for him to get a lot of minutes. No way he wanted to share playing time at UK.
Ok first change to hear todays show, listening to second hour…Ellie Mae or May Walker was working for her uncle.
All this Julius Mays to Kentucky talk is overrated. It reminds me of a few years ago when UK gave a scholarship and a roster spot away to Jarrod Polson. I like Polson as a kid, don’t get me wrong. But with this potentially marvelous 2013 class incoming, it does not make sense to give Mays a scholarship now and lose out on a potential stud next season. Oriachi made sense…..Mays does not.
@25
Mays has one year of eligibility left. He will not affect our 2013 recruiting class
Tony- giving mayes a scholarship doesn’t affect class of 2013. He will be incoming senior. Polson only has scholarship if there’s an extra one. So neither will have anything to do with 2013 class.
How do you get this draft class on the game? what do i need to download? please help
Can’t believe Davis’ D is lower than his O. Would have thought his shot-blocking would give him a higher score than that.
all those stats, while inaccurate, are based on how some random guy thinks their game will transfer to the NBA, that is all.
it has all there names like terrence and teague but does not show them
His eyes look creepy
What draft class is that? Where can i find it? What is the name it’s under?
