2012 Recruit Jarnell Stokes to Enroll in School Early

jarnell

A potentially important piece of news comes from a CatsIllustrated report, as 2012 recruit Jarnell Stokes says he will make his college decision next week and enroll early. According to the report, all of the teams he is considering, which includes UK and Memphis, know that he plans on enrolling early and he will be able to do so at any of the schools. Whether he attempts to play this year is unclear, but the most likely scenario is an early enrollment and playing time next season.

We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.

I hope he enrolls now but, waits until next season to play here. With a year of practice under his ,as well as Harrow’s, next season will look strong.

If TJ continues the disappering act, having another capable/talented big could be a nice addition…

I wonder if Jones’ recent lack of performance has Cal more interested.

Cal is obviously interested but it has nothing to do with Jones. Terrence will be fine. It sucks that we lost, and his performance was awful and also intriguing because it looked like there was something wrong with him, but we will be absolutely fine. Would love to get Stokes though but mainly for next year IMO.

    6. Haha, why would anyone go to UT right now? All they have going for them is, “We will paint your name on a rock.” and “You will graduate eventually, because you are never going to the league.”

@8 – He had one bad game. Before that he was averaging like 17 PPG.

Since Poole is gone, can’t we give that scholly to Stokes?

Terrance Jones is a beast…when he comes to play. That being said something or someone seemed to been inside his head during that game. Could have been something one of those obnoxious arrogant Hoosier fans said (from the TV broadcast you could make out the nasty things the fans were saying to the players and our coach, hand gestures and reading lips told all wanted to know) or maybe he had something else on his mind (girl troubles, family issues). Either way when he comes to play I feel hes slightly better than ADavis. Davis can block shots and catch lobs (and occasionaly provide a pull up J or two) but Terrance has an all around game. I’ve yet to see ADavis’ true potential. I’m sure we will see this in the near future though. Terrance will bounce back and be the player we know him to be. Everyone has their bad days. Hell if you go to work and have something on your mind that pisses you off or makes you sad you tend to dwell on that and it can affect your work day. Im 27 and its hard to handle day to day stress with your job and personal life at times. Guys He’s only 19-20 so people need to have patience with the kid.

#13. Even though Stacey is no longer on the team, he still keeps his scholarship.

If Stokes signs with UK, Coach Cal will make room for him on the bench this year. He’ll play the rest of this year, will play one full year and then he’s gone. IMO, his top desire is to be drafted in the 1st round and he can achieve that by coming to UK. Playing just part of the season will give him a jump start for next year.

    Basic scouting report here…

“Stokes has figured out how to be comfortable in his own body and is in terrific condition. His legs are like cinder blocks and he’s extremely strong with a college ready body now. He scores around the basket through contact on a regular basis.”

If Beckham and Polson are both on schollie, Stokes would have to walk on here because Poole’s schollie remains in use (likely to discourage running players off midway through the year). Probably doesn’t help us.

But if he’s serious about getting to the league, of his choices, we’re the clear pick.

    22) As soon as the semester is over.

When Twany Beckham join UK then Lamb will be able to move back to his SG position. Beckham will back up Teague. I hope he is a great driver and disher that would be awesome. I wish we could find out when exactly will he able to play.

“Recent disappearing act”. You people are nuts. One bad game. This is a freakin game. Imagine if you “experts” had one bad day at work and got fired…perhaps that has happened considering the amount of time a lot of you spend on here criticizing COLLEGE KIDS! Get a life!

Some folks may need to temper their expectations about how much Beckham will help. In his 14 games for MSU last year, he scored a total of 40 points (shooting 35% from the field), had a total of 29 assists, and 23 turnovers–all this while averaging 15 minutes a game. If he logs 3-4 minutes a game in relief of one guard or the other, be happy.
