2012 power forward removes UK from list

Take another one off the 2012 recruiting board – Jarnell Stokes removed Kentucky from his list, according to Zagsblog. Stokes is the fourth best power forward in the class and the No. 10 prospect overall, according to Rivals.com. The 6-foot-8 power forward from Memphis was hoping to hear more from Kentucky’s end after the Peach Jam but he didn’t feel the love he desired. I trust the staff on this one.

Stokes is down to Florida, Arkansas, Memphis, Tennessee, and UConn. Is he a future UK rival?

Adios, amigo.

Wonder what the reason UK stopped pursuing him was? Attitude problem? From what I’ve read, dude can ball (obvious, I know). Hope it doesn’t come back to bite us….

I saw him play as a sophomore at the Kentucky/Tennessee challenge at Warren Central. He is really physical and aggressive and has a lot of talent. I was told that he is a good kid also, so Cal must feel good about some of the players ranked higher than him in the class.

He just didn’t feel the love from UK. A heartless bunch we are.

Remove Kentucky from his list? I’m sorry son, but it was the other way around.

Boo Hoo. Cal must have other players in mind and that is fine with me. Jarnell would be better off attending Memphis.

    Drew,

I just happened to stumble onto your post from 2010 about Tennesee Volunteers: they are you who we think they are…..

I must admit, we have had more than our fair share of felons and future felons come through our system. I also know that in Kentucky, avoiding reality is how you are able to retain your sanity and remain devoted to the big blue, but maybe as a sports radio host and columnist you could do better. All that I ask, is that if you are gonna trash us (and i agree, we deserve the criticism), at least do it well and in an informed manner. This way you could, if nothing else, be that beacon of intelligence in that sea of bissful blue ignorance.

That being said, you displayed your ignorance by leaving 2 very notable individuals off the list. Leonard Little and Dwayne Goodrich, two proud member of the dominant Tennessee football teams in the mid to late 1990s. Both killed people. One still in prison, the other has enjoyed a long, fruitful career in the NFL.

    Have a good day.
    Go Vols

    7) You’re clearly upset about the sad state of your program and are taking it out on others. No one can help you. Sit back and enjoy the show next year. By the way, jealousy is a bad color on you. Orange fits you just fine.

He will attend Memphis, it is hard for kids to leave Memphis, they are beaten at a early age to go tigers. He will be better off in memphis, we have plenty of love for him and weed and alcohol and firearms. We have really produced NBA guys after Cal left anyway, why wouldn’t you want to remove UK. HELLO!

You never know with these kids whether Cal has just quit recruiting them because he’s sure he’s got someone higher/better fitting, or when they actually got impatient and just removed us. Just trust in the gatherer, I guess.

    17) I’m just curious, but how much love is there for Pastner in Memphis? Is he doing enough? Hard to follow the success Cal had, but Pastner was surely helped by everyone in Memphis deciding they didn’t want Cal there anymore anyway, right?

We didnt want this guy because he isnt a sure fire NBA prospect. He is listed at 6’8 plays more like 6’6 not very explosive or much of a space eater. Patrick Paterson is the perfect example of college power forward; great size (6’9), great length (7’0) wing span, broad shoulders plays big (played some center under BCG). This is no loss to use but I guess its a story for KSR when I saw him play against Noel in the Peach Jam Championship game I knew he wasnt going to get very much interest from the Cats. He has GREAT moves and is pretty strong but he is not an elite athlete nor is he a long rangy guy either. Chuck Hayes type with less body and more offensive polish he will go to a nice D-1 school but he wont be an All-American candidate at any point. With this guy rated so high purely indicates how weak this class truly is. I see why we are looking at so many guys because Cal provably isnt sold one any of them. I dont see very many one and done prospects in this class.

I’ve seen this kid play several times. The most recent was at the Peach Jam. Saw him play three times that week. We didn’t miss out on anything. His teammate Shaq Goodwin is the much better of the two, and he didn’t do much for me. In the championship game, Nerlins Noel tore them up. Heck, a junky kid going to Iowa State looked better than Stokes and Goodwin.

I feel like it’s popular to ‘remove’ Kentucky from your list, now. Reflects better on you. Kind of like when the hot chick breaks up with the douche, and he tells everyone that he dumped her.

    Why?

  31. Kyle Mann

I thought of a better comparison. It’s like when there was a good-looking chick that had a good reputation, people liked her, she has a lot of success, you know, smart and proven individual, and there is a guy (most likely a jock) with a cemented social status and group of chicks that he sort of works his way through. By all accounts, she should, on paper, be into him, because he’s used to being told that he’s the best thing ever and basically hasn’t been filtered out of selection. He’s most likely interested in exploiting her for his own purposes, things like that.

Well, long story short, she isn’t into him, does the polite thing and let’s him know it in a subtle way, holds herself to a standard and respects herself enough to not get into that situation. Jock boy is pissed. This rejection is a harsh slap of reality to the chiseled jaw bone, so instead of letting the situation be what it is, he decides to put counter information out there, because, hey, his reputation as a stud is all he has, and it’s on the line. Smart, established, good looking girl has enough going for her to let the speculation be what it may, and moves on.

I’ve seen it a hundred times.
