When you think of big men in the class of 2012, the names which come to mind are Andre Drummond and DaJuan Coleman.
Meet Daniel Ochefu – a 6-foot-10 center from Pennsylvania. Ochefu is ranked eighth in the class of 2012, despite not gaining as much exposure as most players of his hype. He attends Westtown High School. He is also very high on Kentucky.
With offers from West Virginia, Virginia, Temple, James Madison, Rutgers and, most recently, Georgetown, the big man says they have a slight advantage along with the Hoyas. “I like Kentucky and Georgetown a lot,” he said. When asked if Kentucky was his dream school, Ochefu responded by saying, “yes, they have a good program, fans and coach.” If Drummond goes to UConn and Coleman to Syracuse, as expected, could this be the big man the Wildcats land?
“I talked to John Calipari the day coaches could start calling me and we both just touched base and got to know each other a little bit,” stated Daniel. “He said that Kentucky will be at some of my events this summer.” Clearly, if Kentucky does offer, Ochefu is going to be very interested. Pittsburgh, Ohio State and Miami are the latest schools that are pursuing the rising junior.
You may not know him now, but in a couple of months, Daniel Ochefu will be a hot commodity in Lexington.
