1/24/2011 UPDATE: Fan Outfitters College Basketball Contest

Another grueling week has whittled away at the field in the The College Basketball Fan Contest sponsored by Fan Outfitters.

55 teams remain unbeaten since the start of the contest (49 if you count only eligible winners).

This weekend contained a full schedule of interesting match-ups and tough battles. Turkey Hunter‘s Iona Gaels fell two points short of keeping their streak alive. Louisville took a deserving L, lasting much longer in the contest than anticipated, and much longer than they should have considering their implausible comeback against Marquette. Speaking of deserving, the Kansas Jayhawks, a program which has never faced NCAA repercussions for questionable actions by both players and boosters, finally took their first loss of the season against Texas. Better yet, Kansas’ 69-game home win streak came to an abrupt halt, which you all know already because you watched Sportscenter to witness the Terrence Jones highlight reel. Hopefully, the Morris twins continue to act like fools but somehow avoid the ‘DeMarcus Cousins treatment’ from the public.

Hey Chris my first name is spelled wrong. I have Belmont. Also I dont think Winston Salem is a division 1 team.

Winston Salem is a Division 2 team, and they lost on the 20th.

New Orleans is a transitioning Division 3 team, playing a Division 3 schedule.

Sorry guys, this “contest” is lame. It seems to just be something to fill space.

Just saw that Winston-Salem got moved just this year back down to Division II after playing in a Division I conference the past couple years. Also, app had UMass in their twice bc I deleted them from the M-section under Massachusetts a while back.

    Oops.

Texas got Kansas in a rough set of circumstances, and to call kansas deserving of what happened to that team this weekend makes you come off as a backwoods POS.

UNO men’s basketball still competing as a Division 1 team, according to ESPN.

Any explanation for New Orleans being removed? ESPN lists them as a Division 1 basketball team, among the Independents.
