Anthony Davis on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Last night our young superstar Anthony Davis was on his first late night program. He came on with Jimmy Kimmel and totally killed it. He had on a teal hoodie (we will forgive him for the color choice) and engaged in some solid banter with Adam Corolla’s best friend. The highlights:
— Kimmel in the opening monologue says “Anthony Davis is only 19 years old and already has one national title and one eyebrow.”
— He mentioned the fact that there were 3,000 people at the airport when they landed, “it was crazy..there were even babies with unibrows.”
— When asked about his unibrow: “When I first got to KY, people said I looked like Bert from Bert and Ernie, but then I said, it’s me so why not embrace it.
— “Coach Cal is forcing us to go to class…I don’t know why, we just won the national championship.”
— “Fans are crazy in Kentucky…they love horse racing and Kentucky basketball.” Kimmel suggests he become a jockey.
— He said the first thing he wants to do when he gets to the NBA is buy a white on white Bentley.
— Davis also said he had a speech due on Tuesday, but that he got it pushed back to Monday so he could celebrate. These are the types of professors that I can get behind.
— Davis says he would rather block a shot than dunk the ball. “Blocking a shot makes the other team mad.”
— Anthony is asked what he will do now and he says, “I might return to school, I may even take over your job.” Jimmy Kimmel then responds, “we do have a two eyebrow minimum here.”
— Jimmy Kimmel laughs at the idea of Davis having to decide whether to enter the draft. Davis says his mom wants him to return to school but “my dad looks at her and asks if she is crazy.”
— Davis notes that John Calipari does what is best for the player and that he knows Calipari will give him the right advice.
Overall, Anthony did a great job and looked comfortable joking around with Kimmel. The kid has come a long way from when I first saw him after his Junior year of high school. It was great to watch him have a breakout television moment.

Anthony Davis is my favorite player of all time. ALL TIME!
Seriously though he is a great kid and I would love to see him back next year. He would be crazy though to pass up being a first pick even though you go to a crappy team.
I got up to feed our baby and turned the tv on to watch the show. I thought AD did a great job. He seemed comfortable and relaxed. Pretty funny kid too.
Just finish the semester, AD. Don’t go all Daniel Orton. After that, get your money.
So proud of the great job this young man did last night. I have a feeling that was just the first of many talk show appearances in his life.

He’s kinda got a tough choice really. I know the money makes it a sure thing, but good gosh, going to play in Charlotte? Talk about being sucked into a black hole of failure. Not sure how much the picture changes if he waited another year, and obviously he’s always going to go to a crappy team, but man, it doesn’t get a whole lot worse than going to Charlotte I don’t think.

NBA has a lottery. He does not automatically go to the team with the worst record.
Charlotte is a terrible team, but $10 mil a year (contract, shoe deal, etc)sure eases a lot of the misery. Plus he’s not stuck there forever. If he performs well, better teams will be trying to trade for him.

Wasn’t too thrilled with the way Kimmel pushed the whole not going to class thing, but I thought AD handled it well.
Great job by AD. Just wish he had worn a UK sweatshirt. Wish him all the success next year and beyond.

Charlotte will not get the number 1 pick, the worse team rarely gets it, it’s pretty much a 25% chance. I’m hoping wizards tho.

It was funny when they showed his Mom in a unibrow mask….cracked me up.
I was annoyed that Kimmel kept telling Davis to quit going to class, but hopefully Davis is smarter than Orton and appreciates why he can’t just drop out at this point.
That’s turquoise, teal is green. Kimmel is the frat boy talk show host, so of course he pushed why are you going to class? Between Cal and his mother, I suspect Anthony will get his work done. He’ll need speech class, he’s going to be making public appearances a lot. I hope his mom wins out, imagine what he’d do over four years. He’s already one of the great college players ever. There is insurance in case of injury. Update on the tournament, the refs called a charge on him on that play in the Kimmel hallway, and the stats have been revised to reflect that.

You can tell Matt is still new to this entertainment thing; they would have had a rack of clothes for AD to choose from to wear on the show, those weren’t his clothes.
Hope AD wasn’t serious about the Bentley, spending money like that will get you in the Antoine Walker boat.
