Kentucky is undefeated in platinum swag

There’s six more where this came from.

Football. Basketball. Women’s Basketball.

Bring it.

Kentucky continued its dominance over Tennessee with a 69-44 win. It’s the second straight regular season sweep over the Vols in basketball. Add that to the football win and the UK Hoops win in Memorial and this is setting up to be a pretty good year for the Cats in the border rivalry.

Anthony Davis led the way with an unreal game for Kentucky. He scored 18 points on 6-of-7 shooting with eight rebounds and seven blocks. Two of those seven field goals came on 15-foot jumpers, something UK fans have been dying to see the big man knock down consistently.

It was another well-rounded performance for the Cats as they rolled to victory in the new Nike Hyper Elite Platinum swag.

Stuart Hammer will be by shortly with more from the game. Talk amongst yourselves for now.

Go Cats.

Great game by all the players, but how hard is it to let the bench get in when you are up by 20+?

I’m just saying that when we play teams with actual talent in March we are gonna need more than 7 people. You have to develop a bench when you have a chance. Anyone who has watched us play this year knows our top 7 can beat anyone. I think with a 15-20+ lead in the second half you need Wiltjer, Vargus, Beckham, and Polson getting some real minutes. They got a few, but not enough to let them start feeling comfortable out there. Only time will tell

it’s getting closer to march madness which means it’s getting closer to tight games down the stretch.. Coach Cal has to have his team ready to play an entire 40 minutes.. regardless if we are up 10 or up 50 he will leave his main guys in there til the end just to have their legs ready for what’s coming.. leggoo

Let’s be honest, they don’t have too many “victory cigars” on the bench this year. Maybe Polson or Long, but I am not going to complain after beating them low down dirty snitches by 25! Go Cats!

If I’m an opposing coach, my game plan is simple: DO NOT PISS OFF THE CATS. Bad things happen when opposing teams try to get under our skin. It’s like McDonalds: I’m loven it.

  24. I’ll freely admit I’m a geezer (the first player I remember seeing play was Dan Issel), and there ain’t no way you’re every gonna get me to like those unis. “Blue-White-Blue-White!” is what our fans yell, not “Blue-Platinum”!!! It would be one thing if they actually looked good, but they don’t.

Gotta love people bitching about the benchwarmers not getting PT…Hey Vargas got some mins tonight, what else do you need??? Polson and Long are not gonna see mins this late in the year, their mins are for the chump teams “like The Dirty Birds”. Cal will let Davis run the point in a big game before he puts Long in with anymore than 30 seconds left on the clock.
This team gets better with every game, I would HATE to be the coach of a team that draws UK in the first couple rounds in March. If they do indeed peak & hit their ceiling then make room for #8 in RUPP. They’re gonna blow through the NCAA like the ’96 Cats did.

16.) you sir are a sad little man. What happened last year? we had a 6 man rotation last year. With three players inferior to our top six now. I dont know if you forgot, but we did make it to the final four, would have one the national championship save a bad shooting night. Do you really trust vargas in the game for 10 min in the tourney. Noooooo!!!!!!! It doesnt matter how much experience they get, our top six with tired legs arr still better. It shows how good we played if that is all you can find to complain about geeeeeez!!!!

Get off my lawn you vagabonds! When I was your age we didn’t have ‘tricity to light our homes. Back in nineteen ought’ three we played basketball wearing thick wool uniforms that weighed twenty pounds from the sweat. Blah, blah, blah. I loved the platinum uni’s, thought they looked great. What any of us think about them doesn’t matter though. It excites the kids who are going out there to represent Big Blue Nation. It has recruits looking at something like this, a special privilege that only a handful of teams get to do, and it makes them wish they were a part of it. The players, current and future, are the ones that matter. They like stuff like this, it pumps them up. Whatever it takes to make them happy and for recruits to take notice, I’m all for it. It’s not like they were red or some irregular color that didn’t go with our scheme. Our primary colors are blue & white, but we’ve used black & gray as trim. I think they looked awesome, much better than those denim disasters from the 96 season. The only thing that saved those uniforms was us winning the NC.

#15 – Quit complaining. If we get to a point in the NCAA tournament where we need a significant contribution from Vargas, Polson, or even Beckham we are probably screwed anyway. Cal keeps his 7 man rotation so they can maintain their conditioning. Some of our fans have 0 common sense.

We don’t have to be deep to win it all! Just ask Duke 1991-92 and Florida 2006-07. Plus NCAA tournament takes so many TV time outs and that helps out teams with smaller rotations. Gotta love the way these kids gathered around each other during the shoving match. This team is starting to embrace tough play without losing their cool!

Doug Gottlieb is such a hater. He bashed in TJ for acting like a punk before all the pushing and shoving. He was just trying to get to the foul line! Golden was the punk who tried to start something first. Doug is a douche bag.

Wow, this team is coming together.

Know who played great virtually un-noticed? Teague. DId he even have one turnover? Really making the offense flow. TJ being aggressive. Davis being Davis, Gilchrist being Gilchrist. Miller with an off shooitng night that made no difference. Unreal. This team can only lose to itself.

Thought the cats played “Gritty” and “Nasty” loved every second. Its awesome to see them shooting the rock so well but even better to see them hustling to get back on D and get stop after stop after stop! If we play at that intensity level for 40 min every game in march it will take something magical and some to put us out. As far as the Jersey’s go, Im all for trying new things but the numbers and names where hard to see until they got sweaty. All in all Uni’s and performance was AWESOME. GO Big Blue!!!

The Nike Platinum “swag” you cats like to crow about stink. 1st–they look like plain ol’ grey sweatsuit crap on TV. 2nd–they’re not UK exclusive. The only thing I thought they had going for them tonight is that they enhanced the hideousness of the UT orange.

  62. LoganBleedsBlue
    10:59 pm January 31, 2012 Permalink

I was impressed with UK shooting 88% from the stripe. That’s important for this team to go deep. These Vols played a rough and physical game and the Cats made them pay by hitting their foul shots. 10% from 3 land was disappointing though. Other than that great win.
