Skal Labissiere gets Demoted to the G-League

Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

Former Kentucky center Skal Labissiere has been demoted from the Sacramento Kings’ roster down to the Reno Bighorns, the King’s G-League affiliate.

In his second NBA season, Skal has started ten of 23 games for the Kings and is averaging 7.7 points and 4.0 rebounds in 17.1 minutes.  Labissiere seemed to be finding his fit in Sacramento, but over the last ten games he’s only scored in double figures once.

To add insult to injury, Skal’s demotion comes as Willie Cauley-Stein is sidelined for at least the next two games with a lower back strain.

Here’s to hoping Labissiere can regain some confidence in the G-League.  His former Kentucky teammate Derek Willis is making the most of his time in the NBA’s developmental league.  Last night he had 25 points, 11 rebounds and 4 steals for the Grand Rapids Drive.

Skal was always overrated so this is not a surprise. Should have stayed in college

Looks like Cal was the only guy able to slow Derek Willis down
