After a promising start with New Orleans, Rajon Rondo has been dealt a minor setback.
Shams Charania is reporting that Rondo underwent surgery this morning for a sports hernia injury and will miss four to six weeks. He suffered the injury Friday during a preseason game with Oklahoma City. What’s a sports hernia, you ask? A strain or tear of any soft tissue in the lower abdomen or groin area.
Back in July, the Pelicans signed Rondo to a one-year, $3.3 million deal. He’s struggled to find a good fit over the years, but by all accounts, was quickly forming chemistry with the Pelicans and emerging as a leader. Here’s hoping this doesn’t set him back too much.
