Former Kentucky center Enes Kanter became the very first NBA player to win a WWE title belt and lose it in the exact same day.
Well, there’s no official record book to confirm that, but it’s so ridiculous that it almost has to be true.
This evening, the newest Boston Celtics big man waltzed into the ring at Madison Square Garden wearing his own jersey for the WWE 24/7 Championship prior to Monday Night Raw.
Wrestling champion R-Truth made an initial effort to get the Madison Square Garden crowd to cheer on Kanter, a former New York Knick, but the former Wildcat went for a clothesline instead.
From there, Kanter pinned R-Truth down long enough to secure the victory and earn the title belt.
After a brief celebration, the former champion rolled up Kanter and got him pinned down to steal the belt right back.
Check out the exchange below:

Even though he didn’t actually leave the Garden with the belt, he took to Twitter to show off his short-lived status as a WWE champion, adding that he is the “future.”

As you well know, Kanter has long discussed a career in professional wrestling after his NBA career comes to a close.
Back in April, the former Wildcat was in the ring practicing some of his future moves when he makes the jump to the WWE.

And no one can forget Kanter’s appearance at Big Blue Madness nearly ten years ago when he debuted the “UnderKanter.”
Tonight, he took a pretty significant step toward his WWE future by stepping in the professional ring for the very first time.
