Hamidou Diallo and his Oklahoma City Thunder teammates were eliminated from the Las Vegas Summer League tournament bracket on Thursday, but Diallo went out with a bang.
A redshirt freshman at Kentucky this past season, Diallo is now staring down a spot on the Thunder’s 15-man roster after he led the summer league team with 14 points off the bench in a loss to Memphis. Diallo’s athleticism was on full display in Vegas, but he’s also shown he can hit the outside shot, a weakness of his at Kentucky.
Diallo will likely have to beat out Terrance Ferguson, OKC’s first-round pick in 2017, to make the team. It helps that Ferguson did not have a great summer league ahead of his second season.

CORRECTION
Diallo will get another game out in Las Vegas in the consolation bracket.
Am I crazy or was Billy G in on recruiting a guy named Terrence Ferguson? I know it doesn’t make any sense time-frame wise but I swear I remember that name back in the day.
You’re crazy…
You’re right. It was a different Terrance Ferguson though. His mom was a big part of his recruitment if I remember right. He went to a college in Florida. Had off-court issues I think and transferred around a bit. Ended up playing until his senior season. Never really made any waves. We dodged a bullet there.
@damage_control – you’re thinking of Dominique Ferguson 🙂

That’s the guy! Thanks man that was driving me nuts!
Only counted 13 points. Did he hit a free throw?
Diallo is making the outside shot, and Knox is attacking the basket. Doing what Cal was pulling his hair out over.
Good stuff!
A day late & dollar short was my first (UK minded) thought.
Diallo isn’t making the team over Ferguson
Diallo only showed his potential against Buffalo…not hating bc he did nothing but hurt himself, he would have been drafted first round if he played all year like he did against Buffalo. Anywho good luck bud!!! We got swaggy cal back
