DeMarcus Cousins agrees to deal with Golden State Warriors

DeMarcus Cousins has single-handedly decided the 2018-19 NBA season.

The former Kentucky big man has signed a one-year deal with the Golden State Warriors.

According to a source close to Cousins, the decision was “about winning.”

Obviously.

Cousins missed the latter half of the NBA season last year with a torn Achilles, and will return to the court by December/January. He averaged 25.2 points and 13 rebounds in 48 games with the Pelicans.

Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, and DeMarcus Cousins. All in the same lineup.

Wow.

    1. BigBlue4EverUK

      I haven’t heard that

    2. UK Big Board Update

dballrb just makes a lot of things up in his head.

  2. zham7

Motion to make him the only former UK player we don’t cheer for?

    1. Ridge Runner

I love Cuz.. but I admit you have a point.

    2. unbridled

Disagree. i Hate LeBron more than I hate golden state. Boogie going to the Warriors makes it easier to root for golden state and easier to root against LeBron. Great move from my perspective.

    3. UK Big Board Update

I love the Lebron haters. LOL

      #idiots

  3. BigBlueMeade

I’m jumping on the bandwagon now

  4. KYChris

Congrats to Boogie and the 2019 NBA champion, Golden State Warriors.

  5. Booher

Motion denied dummy bout to get that ring

  6. CopenhagenCat

How do they afford all these guys.

    1. KYcats11

It was a $5 million dollar deal which is not much for a superstar.

    2. BBNDan7

Not much? That’s putting it lightly lol

  7. Swizzle

    Hate them even more now

  8. ScottGreene22

    3PEAT

  9. GM1978

Now Lebron doesn’t have to wait till the finals to lose to Golden State

  10. bigbluebanana

    Wow!

  11. Ridge Runner

Sorry, I still hate the Warriors as bandwagon tee shirts fly off the shelves still…

  12. BigBlue4EverUK

He is going to miss over 1/2 the season… Hope Boogie can bounce back for bigger things in the future.

    1. Luether

Agree. He’ll be able to recuperate and have relatively little pressure on him when he’s ready to return…

  13. DennyC

Wow! An ALL-Star Starting lineup.NBA better be careful. My 22 year old son just said this has made the NBA no fun. This could hurt the NBA with their target audience. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

    1. UK Big Board Update

Do you have all 4 televised Jazz games on your DVR still?

  14. UKinIN

This is a true “F*** you, LeBron.” by Warriors. Keep the Lakers from signing Cousins and make it even more difficult for the Lakers to get out of the West.

  15. catsfan1995

Won’t be cheering for him now. Unbelievable

  16. UKinIN

With Cousins and Draymond what are the odds that the Warriors break the single season record for technical fouls by the all-star break?

    1. bigbluebanana

      109%

    2. Luether

My sources say that the odds are really, really good…

    3. UK Big Board Update

      Don’t forget KD!!

      2018:

      2. Draymond Green – 15 Techs – 3 ejections

      3. Kevin Durant – 14 techs – 5 ejections

      14. Demarcus Cousins – 9 techs – 2 ejections

    4. Greatcatfan

You might as well double Cousin’s because he missed half the season. Teams didn’t call him thuggins for completely nothing.

  17. KYjellyRoll

    Who’s gonna help Davis?

    1. Luether

      Julius Randle…

    2. UK Big Board Update

      Darius Miller

  18. KYjellyRoll

Are the pelicans not signing anyone? Other than randle? It’s hard to have a favorite team in the NBA when you’ve got so many guys from your favorite college team on so many teams lolol!

  19. AllBall

Pelicans have signed Julius Randle to help fill the Boogie void. I’m also hearing they are interested in signing Tyler Ulis since Rondo left.

  20. ClutchCargo

It’s safe to say the Kraken is about to be released on the rest of the NBA.

  21. Headhurts

Cuz wants a ring so sign a 1 yr deal, hopefully he gets that ring, finally a Ky player on a top team.

  22. JPGott2

Demarcus will be there for 1 year. He will comeback mid season and 1. Show he is hitting on all cylinders, while also 2. Winning a championship.

He will then bounce to another team on a 3 year max contract to finish his career.

    1. Soylentbeans

So you’re saying he only plays until he is 31?

    2. bigbluebanana

That’s what I was going to say! If he’s healthy, he will play longer than that I think.

    3. Bobbum Man

Other than the finish his career in 3 years thing ur exactly didn’t… he obviously didn’t get the offers he wanted so said I’ll spend a year showing I’m healthy, redo free agency and get the money I’d deserve… he basically has a year to burn, why not win a ring

    4. JPGott2

Uhhhh, the man has a torn Achilles. He might comeback 100, but he is not playing to 33-35. He is a true big (5) in the NBA. That type of injury makes it scary around 33. Extend my prediction by a year, but I stand by it.

    5. Soylentbeans

I get it but I think if he comes back healthy he is in the league until 33-35. Now starting or even getting big minutes in the league at that age with an injury like that behind you I’m not so sure.

  23. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

The rich get richer. I’m surprised they didn’t get Lebron! 😛

    1. UKinIN

No one wants to play with LeBron

    2. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door

It looks like that may be the case.

  24. bigfatstoopidE

    the NBA is broken.

  25. Dark Soul

He is just as heartless as Durant. I have never hated a KY player until now. Would absolutely not care at all if he is injured again

    1. Bobbum Man

      Geez dude

    2. Twick39

Dude I get the fact it is ridiculous that he went to GS, but don’t be like that. It’s a damn game.

    3. Wade

Soft move but why hate him he’s just setting up his payday. Gs doesn’t need him immediately so he can rehab and come back late for a title run probably win a championship and get a max deal elsewhere

    4. Dark Soul

Okay I was mad. I don’t want him to really get reinjured but he is still the only Ky player in history that I will never cheer for again. I thought he had heart

  26. Cletis75

Damn Boogie! I never dreamed that you would be a b!tch like that!

    1. Dark Soul

It hurt me. Durant surprised me too. These guys want everything easy. Its almost unwatchable.

  27. runningunnin.454

Introducing the Golden State Yankees. Wonder how many will watch the NBA finals.

  28. iliketurtles

Wow, use to love Boogie but I can’t after this. Super soft move. Ryan Harrow soft.

    1. Dark Soul

      Agreed

  29. King Kelly Coleman

I’m not very educated on NBA, contracts etc. but why just a 1 year deal for Boogie?

    1. Dark Soul

He turned down multuple teams for more money just to get on a unbeatable team. They are almost maxed on their cap so he is going there for one year to try to prove he is still a max player so he can get paid on his next contract.
