A last-minute family matter forced Julius Randle to remove himself from Team USA Training Camp out in Las Vegas this week. His replacement? De’Aaron Fox.
Fox was promoted from the USA Select Team to the actual USA Basketball roster ahead of the upcoming FIBA World Cup. Chris Haynes, a senior NBA insider for Yahoo! Sports, added that his sources believe Fox has a great shot at making the final 12-man roster that will play in China early next month.
16 NBA players will compete for the final 12-man World Cup roster. They are:
Jaylen Brown (Boston Celtics)
Mason Plumlee (Denver Nuggets)
Marcus Smart (Boston Celtics)
Thaddeus Young (Chicago Bulls)
Harrison Barnes (Sacramento Kings)
Kyle Kuzma (Los Angeles Lakers)
Brook Lopez (Milwaukee Bucks)
Kyle Lowry (Toronto Raptors)
Khris Middleton (Milwaukee Bucks)
Donovan Mitchell (Utah Jazz)
Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics)
P.J. Tucker (Houston Rockets)
Myles Turner (Indiana Pacers)
Kemba Walker (Boston Celtics)
Bam Adebayo (Miami Heat)
De’Aaron Fox (Sacramento Kings)
The final roster will be announced on Aug. 17. The team is coached by Gregg Popovich.
Good luck to the two former Cats!
