Zion Williamson sets announcement date

Breaking news in the recruiting world: Zion Williamson will announce his college decision on January 20. He just shared the news on Twitter:

The five-star forward is down to Clemson, Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, North Carolina, and South Carolina, although most believe he’s down to the Cats and the Tigers. Last week, he said he was closing in on a decision, but recent intel from recruiting experts suggests home state Clemson has all of the momentum; based on that, the fact that his announcement is coming up in a few weeks doesn’t bode well for Kentucky.

Or, is he just trying to make Tyler Herro’s birthday extra special?

We’ll find out soon enough.

Honestly, while Clemson seems to be getting all the momentum, I can’t fathom in my head him not coming to Kentucky, all UK’s signees have been talking to him a lot and they think they’re in good position, according to Matt Jones the people in Lexington feel good about it, and (while this was in the summer) Zion said that he wanted to play with Immanuel Quickley. Unless he just wants the spotlight, which is very possible, I don’t see him not coming to Kentucky. Of course though I have no inside connections or anything like this is all gut feeling.

Zion is already the home state hero . I’d go out of state, blaze my own trail, play and practice against top talent, go to a school where winning the Natty could be achieved.I have just a small, weird feeling most of our guys will be back.Hum,makes perfect sense to me. But,I am I and Z is Z..

Hmmmm… we play Florida @ home and Clemson plays Notre Dame @ home on that day… I have a bad feeling about it.

Clemson? Seriously? At least schools like Oklahoma(Young) & LSU (Simmons) have some basketball tradition. But Clemson? Best they have ever done is ONE elite eight. Use yo head, Zion! Come win a championship instead of watching the FF on TV!

      Yup!

Well the point of going to school like clemson is to make your own legacy. Go to a school gets yours for a season and set records.

Dudes a beast, he’s still very raw but who cares with hops like that on a frame like that. I hope we get him, it’s hard to believe that he’s gonna go to Clemson with coach Cal recruiting him. Or at least I hope Cal can lock him down and he comes to uk cause given what’s gonna return, what’s already on their way here next year, he could make us the legit favorite next season to cut down those nets!!

If he sees that and still wants to go to Clrmson, UK might not be the right place for him. I’m fine with however it turns out.

I want him just because he’s “cool”, but is he even good at basketball (aside from insane dunking)? I don’t necessarily think he’s the difference between us and a title next year.

Not the best timing for KY. Seems like he would wait to see what draft decisions some of the players make. He probably would play regardless, so maybe he doesn’t care.

I love Zion as much as everyone else. Kid has a lot of hype, but I would take James Wismen over Zion. The only reason I want Zion is if PJ leaves bc we need a big physical 4, but Wisemen to me has more NBA upside. But we need to make sure we have scholarships before we guarantee them to the remaining kids. I only see Hami and Knox leaving with Washington,Vanderbilt, Alexander and Gabriel on the fence and Wynyard maybe transferring or doing the professional route if pushed to the end of depth chart
