Zion Williamson scores 31 points in first game back from injury

With just over one week until his announcement, Zion Williamson returned to the basketball court last night, putting up 31 points in his first game back after suffering a foot injury on November 21.

Zion has been battling a foot bruise the last two months but showed little rust in Spartanburg Day’s win last night, playing 28 of 32 minutes. Even though he told The State that he’s only playing at about 80-85%, he looked like his usual self, dazzling the crowd with powerful dunks and throwing alley-oops to his teammates. Some highlights from our pals at The Overtime:

After the game, Zion claimed that with one week left to go until his announcement on January 20, his recruitment is still wide open despite reports that he was down to Clemson, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

“I’m going to be honest with y’all, I don’t know who released those six schools,” he told The State’s Matt Connolly. “The last time I checked my recruitment was still wide open, but I’m still considering everybody, just listening to their final messages and what they have to tell me.”

Clemson has all the momentum right now, with 76% of the predictions in 247 Sports’ Crystal Ball; however, most recruiting analysts insist they don’t know for certain.

You can watch Zion for yourself on ESPN tomorrow night at 8 p.m. as Spartanburg Day takes on Chino Hills.

Tyler, I would like to apologize for my comments about you on yesterday’s post about KY going to Nashville earlier. I did not intend for you to take it the way that you did. And as I did say, you are a great writer.

Ah the classic i was a douche canoe now i wanted to act like i care

I don’t see how you could consider me a douche. I basically said that I had a lot of pride in my state, and that Nashville is not something I really care about, (unless UK is playing there). I made a mistake, and I owned up to it like a man. Sorry buddy.

Watched the YouTube video and people were making a big deal out of the fact that he is wearing Kyrie’s in the game… Guess saying he is going to duke or a Nike school… Seems a little silly to me..

      Like UK?

I would like him to come here but won’t lose sleep if he doesn’t. I think he’d be a lot like Young at Oklahoma. I’ve heard lots of UK fans saying what if we had gotten him. I’d rather have the combo of Alexander and Green. May have a chance of getting one or both back for next year and I’ve never cared for a one man show. You shut Young down or he’s has an off night and the Sooners are easy to defeat.

Completely agree with you On Trae, bigblue2018.

I like both Green and Alexander but I would love to have Trae Young. This season being devoid of a true superstar and the flash we’ve become accustom to has made it a bit boring. Since I don’t think we have a title contender I’d at least enjoy a versatile exciting player to watch.

Yeah who wants a one man show that only leads the nation in points and ASSIST. He has had a couple poor shooting games but for the most part is shooting well, I think including free throws, and obviously gets teammates involved with those numbers. Plus here he would have more, although younger, talent around him and would free up our current guys to be more productive. To say we don’t want him is easy after HE made the choice to not come here.

I didn’t say I didn’t want him callitikeiseeit, I said I’d rather have the combo of Green and Alexander better and I stand by it. Also, I’ve watched Oklahoma 4-5 times this year as I like watching a great player as well. For example in the game against WVU Oklahoma lost because they concentrated on one player. I know UK has 3 losses and I’m not one in losing my mind mold as it’s only Jan. 12th and this team can get better, 3 losses to be so young and to see teams like Michigan St with two losses and a lot more experience I’m not concerned. What I was trying to say to game plan on Oklahoma means limiting one player as much as possible, against UK you never know if it’s going to be Green, Alexander, Washington, Diallo etc etc to go off for 20-25. If UK and Oklahoma were to meet in the Sweet 16 or Elite 8 bring the deed to your house, I’ll cover.

Young is definitely good but we have no idea how he would thrive on a team where he wasn’t “the man” plus I’ll take Shai’s defense all day and I think he’s gonna be a Star by the end of the year

I like how it says analysts think this but they’re still unsure….. the kid just said he isn’t sure. Wish I had that job. Just fling crap at the wall
