Vernon Carey is coming to Big Blue Madness. The 2019 five-star power forward just told reporters at the Peach Jam he plans to take his official visit to Kentucky the weekend of October 12-14 for the program’s biggest recruiting night of the year.
It may be worth noting that Carey, considered a Duke lean, listed Kentucky first when asked about his official visit schedule.
“They’ll probably all be in October,” Carey said of his official visits. “For Big Blue Madness and some other big event for Duke.”
Carey is considered the No. 2 player in the 2019 class behind James Wiseman, whom he faced last night. Today, he reiterated that he’s open to playing with Wiseman in college, a concept you know John Calipari is drooling over. This morning, Calipari, Kenny Payne, and Joel Justus were all courtside to watch Carey again, which has made an impression.
“Yeah, Coach Cal has been texting me and said, just keep on playing hard. He loves the way I play.”

And audio of his interview with TJ:
Would be a great get on Carney
Carey would be an even better get…
I am a fan of Cal’s plan to get both Wiseman and Carey.
Especially considering how good they are being as raw they are. The ceiling for both is very high. I really would love to see this come to fruition.
Imagine him and wiseman and maxey and Cole ,and find a sf!!!
Big Duke event? The one where they dance to the Macarena and play grab ass?
No. The other one, where they play “swallow the leader”!
Most likely means nothing, but its worth noting that he basically said he only watches AD and Boogie. And he also names “Big Blue Madness”, and doesn’t know what the Duke event is called…
Big Blue Madness > High School Musical
Means nothing. VERY reliable intel tells me he’s staying home at Miami
I Would much rather have him go to Miami than Duke. But having him go to Kentucky would be majorly huge for us.
