Vanderbilt officially signs with Kentucky

Screen Shot 2017-04-17 at 3.45.09 PM

Jarred Vanderbilt is officially a member of the University of Kentucky’s 2017 basketball class.

The small forward out of Texas inked his National Letter of Intent at his high school Monday afternoon. Mark Berman of Fox 26 in Houston has the video from Vanderbilt’s signing ceremony:

Vanderbilt joins Quade Green, Shai Alexander, Nick Richards, P.J. Washington and Hamidou Diallo, an early enrollee, in John Calipari’s crop of 2017 talent. Another hard commit, Jemarl Baker, has yet to sign his NLI.

Still no injury update though.

Any video of him walking in or using crutches…?

Scares thr crap out of me.. Weird the injury happens, no updates on it and then signs his loi. My guess it requires surgery and its bad so he has to sign to fall under UK insurance. Really similar to harry Giles.

As long as he doesn’t refuse to play once he heals up the way Giles did.

It was reported on April 11 that he was going to sign this week.

Who cares when he signs. Get this kid fixed… even if he never plays for us.

We offered him a scholarship and he verbally accepted it. If he has the grades we take care of him. That’s who we are.

Glad to see him here but sure makes you wonder about the injury. An update would be great! It’s hard to believe a big time prospect like that doesn’t already know the score on his injury.

could be privacy issues, but if it was no big deal you’d think something would have come out by now.

    To jrdh13,

What? This isn’t anything like Harry Giles. That’s going WAY overboard and just crazy really. Giles had multiple serious knee injuries with multiple torn ligaments in each knee. Knee injuries are far worse than foot and ankle injuries. I’m a bit concerned about him as wel but it’s no comparison to Giles. I’m wondering if it’s a foot injury rather than an ankle injury. I just didn’t see anything happen to the ankle but you can easily get a foot injury with that kind of motion to the foot on that play. I guess we will just have to wait and see. If we don’t hear anything this week, then I’ll really be concerned. But this signing is not an indication to anything. He committed after the signing period, so we couldn’t sign until now. It has nothing to do with signing because of the injury. He was always going to sign this late. So, just relax. For now anyway.

Im just comparing the timing of the announcements. At worst bringing him along slow hell be ready after christmas break. i just think the reason the injury hasnt been released is to make sure we cover, which i think we should.
