A No. 7 seed in the SEC Tournament, the Cats got off to a great start in Knoxville by taking downÂ South Carolina with a 7-3 win.
Meagan Prince pitched fiveÂ scoreless innings before surrendering a solo homerunÂ to the Gamecocks. Â Offensively, the bats got hot in the third inning. Â Brooklin Hinz’s RBI double drove in Bailey Vick to get things started. Â Abbey Cheek quickly followed with a three-run blast over the left field wall to give the Cats the lead for good. Â Â She doubled-down with another bomb in the fifth inning to give the Cats their sixth run.
The Gamecocks threatened late in the game, getting two runners on in the final inning before the Cats closed the door.
