UK Fans of the Day Want Friday Evening Notes

It’s been a long time since UK fans wanted notes, so let’s bring it back with a Friday evening edition of KSR’s time-honored tradition.

— Denzil Ware’s transfer to Jacksonville State tells us a little bit more about his reason for leaving the program. It eliminates the theory that he wanted to play for a contender (a la Jeff Badet of a year ago) and leaves us with two other options: (1) a parting of ways over disciplinary reasons or (2) to be closer to home. My guess is it is a little bit of both. Ware has a newborn baby and Jacksonville State is closer to his hometown in South Alabama. But I also think the coaching staff was okay with him leaving the program (not so much a forced exit for a specific incident, but they also didn’t beg him to stay). Whatever the case, he gone.

— My post on KyKy Tandy got some folks fired up. Many people disagree with me, and that’s fine, but I can assure you I am right. The staff did not like his father’s comments or the timing of his Kansas State tweet. Neither of those are deal breakers, but put them together and you have a red flag. And though Tandy is a good player at University Heights (for now), he isn’t good enough to be sending red flags. I don’t think UK is interested.

— Speaking of in-state targets, the other one, Dontaie Allen, is playing in Lexington this weekend. He and his AAU team will be at KBA all weekend, although I do not know their schedule. You’ll have to look that one up on your own.

— Ryan Lemond is alive and well.

And he gets to wear that conehead bandage all weekend. He will take it off and see his post-procedure head for the first time during Monday’s show.

— Got plans this weekend? If not, you should go to The Cliff for its last stand. The current series against Mississippi State is the final regular season series in the stadium’s 50-year history. It also has pretty big implications on whether or not UK will host postseason play. Game 1 against the Dawgs is currently underway, so I assume you’re not there, but you can still catch the Saturday and Sunday games.

— To my fellow golf fans, is there anything better to watch than Tiger’s stinger?

(I put that one on a tee for you jokesters.)

Movie recommendations? I usually trust your opinions. Please, send me some new favorites of yours I need to watch. It’s movie night at the Franklin house.

— Reminder: we’re looking to add some KSR brand ambassadors this summer. The opportunity is only open to college students, so if you’re interested and fall into that demographic, send us a resume and why you want the job to [email protected]

— I miss the notes. This is fun. I guess I’ll use this space to tell everyone I’ll be starting an Ask Anything Mailbox next week. I’ll tell you more about it another time, but if you want to be one of the first to be heard, send me an e-mail ([email protected]) with a question you want answered. It can be anything (hence the name) from life advice for your own personal circumstances or something you’d like to know about me or KSR. Everything is fair game. Just shoot me an e-mail with Ask Anything Mailbox as the subject and I might use it in the first edition.

Okay I think that’s all. Send me those movies please.
