UK Basketball Recruits Star in Adidas Nations Finale

Before the conclusion of the summer AAU basketball season, Zion Williamson, Immanuel Quickley and two other recruits with UK offers made one final splash at the Adidas Nations Global Championship game.

In a game pitting stars from the USA and the “Asia Pacific” region, Williamson was (as usual) the best player on the floor.  Williamson finished with 28 points and 10 rebounds.  If that stat-line doesn’t impress you, this will.

“I’m still only at about 85 percent,” Williamson told USA Today’s Jason Jordan following the win. Zion missed the majority of the summer nursing a knee injury. “If I’m able to do this at 85 percent I can’t wait to get back to 100 percent. I didn’t want to use that as an excuse because I really wanted this win with it being my last one of the summer. For me, it didn’t matter where I was at shape-wise; I was gonna do what I had to do to get the win.”

Right behind Williamson in the box score was his friend Immanuel Quickley.  Calipari’s top point guard target scored 15 points.  Here’s a small sample of some of his work:

Quickley also created a connection with New Albany, Indiana shooting guard Romeo Langford, who contributed 13 points to the cause.

Quentin Grimes is another guard Calipari is actively pursuing.  The combo guard had a few impressive cross-overs during his 14-point performance, but this one was the best.
